Scott Peterson's Defense Could Rest Tuesday Scott Peterson's defense team could rest its case Tuesday.
On Monday, his lawyer called on Peterson's mother to try to explain why he had nearly $15,000 in cash on him when he was arrested. She says she gave him back $10,000 that she accidentally withdrew from his account.
His lawyer also questioned police about whether someone else could have been responsible for the death of Scott's wife, Laci, and her baby.
Prosecutors say he killed her and dumped her body into the San Francisco Bay nearly two years ago.
The defense maintains ........
"Yes, and the media made Garagos out to be this high and mighty lawyer. Go figure!"
I've been scratching my head all along. He just should have rested, he brought his case during cross-exam in the state's case. As Devil Anse points out in post 194, he may not win on those grounds in California. I don't know that he could pass the "would have otherwise been found not guilty" standard.
well, kind of late back on the thread for a bit....>But, listening to Nancy Grace's radio today, some callers came in and lookie here, withdrawing and depositing large sums of money requires documentation, Feds! So, she lied or was just looking at saying something to save her boy's arse! Today, much information and Daniel Horowitz was amazed in some callers info....
He'll probably be like that guy Clinton wouldn't pardon b/c Clinton was running for governor or something (I forget). The guy was eating his last meal, but didn't have room for his dessert, a piece of pecan pie. They prompted him, as it was almost time to go to the death chamber: "Eat up, now." He replied that he would eat the pie later.
There is rebuttal with the DA....

I was reading one of those semi-transcriptions of the Court TV shows, over on WS. They recounted all the mistakes the defense ob-gyn expert had made, and that silly Vinnie chimed in and said, "Hey, can't you guys cut him some slack?"
ROFLMAO!
I haven't seen ol' Janey on TV for quite a while now. I mostly hear of her antics by reading PsychesKnot. Who knows, maybe one day Janey will get nabbed during a strip search at the prison while going to visit Scott--carrying a file where she isn't supposed to carry anything.
Makes me go, "hmmmmm." Perjury, maybe?

Though I despise Geragos, I can't really deny that he seems intelligent. And he seemed prepared throughout the trial. But his problem is, he just can't keep his BIG FAT MOUTH SHUT! LOL.
I think there is ammo from this trial. An officer of the court isn't supposed to knowingly present a witness who is lying. I thought Jackie's testimony was perjury. (the explanation about the cash and the car in her name). OTOH, if Geradope chose just to believe her fish stories without verifying, he slips by that one. sigh
Oh I know. I agree with you. It's sickening to see him sitting in that courtroom with that smug look on his face. Garagos is just a stunt man. Disgraceful. Laci and her unborn baby Connor are gone and will never have to face the horrors of this earth again. For that I am grateful. However, I am sick to death of looking at this selfish piece of humanity. Why on earth would you dye your hair, have money in your pocket and be heading for the border if you are innocent?
Why on earth would you want to sell the home you and your wife shared if she were missing????????????????????
I jsut feell sadness for Laci's family who will never be able to see her again and I feel sadness because someone robbed them of their darling little grandson Connor. This is not right. This is a mockery of our whole judicial system. It's a sickening scenario and I hope the guilty party/parties are brought to justice and will receive their just punishment. No matter what they get it will be more humane than what Laci had to endure. Not only was she scared for her own life but...can you imagine being pregnant and being attakced like that? The fear you have for your child that you want so much? Someone should burn in hell for this crime and if it is Scott so be it. If it is not...then whomever is responsible I should burn in hell. Either way I have one thing to say to the perp...God is watching and God knows who did this crime. That cannot be erased by a million lawyers. God knows and God will take care of it when the time comes. That ... can be taken to the bank!
Wouldn't it just be a scream if the prosecution got hold of the records for that account in the names of Jackie, Scott, and Laci, and DIDN'T find any "accidental $10,000 withdrawal"?
Maybe so... I hear the media is going to be all over Redwood City next week....more so....

I think you're right. She and Geragos seem to go way back--but it all probably comes down to money/viewers!
I think Daniel Horowitz stated that Pat Harris wanted to present a full defense and Geragos said no....
