One's ancestry is irrelevant to this matter

I disagree entirely. And so does MarMema, evidently, to whom the question was posed.

Well then, which war caused you to cross over to the Russian side?

Probably the holy war, the one with a crescent behind it.

Particularly given the primacy of ancestry where the "War on Terror" is seen primarily as a "War on Islam" and the epicenter of this triangulation emanates without question from the ancestral home of the Jews which put in motion what appears to be perpetual revolution as so desired by the Former Soviets, ancestry does indeed matter.

On what other basis would the United States or any of the European Union, Britain or Switzerland claim to be "Christian." How else could Spain, Ireland or Italy pretend for even a moment at being yet "Catholic" nations?

Ancestry most definitely matters ... particularly where secularists who don't even make a pretense of practicing the faith of their fathers yet claim the privileges of their heritage. I think of the young Israelis who so stumped Pat Robertson when he asked them: "Well, if you're atheists, on what do you base your claim to Israel?"

The secularists of Israel (like those with whom I hiked last year) are extreme example, of course but this sort of thing is patently obvious to anyone who's spent any time in Russia, particularly, and seen the way the unbroken hierarchy of the militant atheist State has taken a page from Stalin and decreed religion back in favor. They've even gone overboard to gussy up Sts. Peter and Paul with officially-canonized Romanov remains, strongarmed their New Millionaire Corporate Sponsors to restore the Cathedral of Christ and returned worshippers to the atheist museum that was Kazan in Petersburg.

Given the in-your-face realities of decadent New Russians at city center and the same-old-shit Russians drinking themselves into oblivion against a backdrop of endless Soviet-era project housing ... the bid at state-sanctioned and seriously state-controlled religiosity is Potemkin at best.

Similarly absurd is the way Europeans and Americans who no longer breed or who produce inferior offspring thanks to artificial and delayed reproduction, the placing of career ahead of motherhood and the rendering of the Father as redundant sperm-donor appendix of patriarchy ... feel they have a right to retain the traditional facial features and mores of their nation by prohibiting immigration and preventing the breeding of those who engage in sexual relations every bit as potent as God intended and even "natural selection evolutionists" know sex to be.

Are you Russian, MarMema?

I'll give you a little hint, there is no nation in this world that would not want to bury every other naiton in this world. Most can only dream and have no resources, about a dozen or more great powers can attain or attempt to attain this. This is the natural order of things and this is good. It's called competition.

If anything he deadpans his stories. It is you who have sunk to new lows.

Just curious but have you ever ran across an article critical of Russia you didn't like? On any subject? Some how I doubt your it with your one agenda item.

"Not everyone who thinks differently than you is Russian." Are you Russian?

Damn Mr. McCarthy, what the hell right do you have to start questioning the ethnicity of everyone who questions your ravings? Fifty years ago another group did just what you are doing, but they were searching for Jews. Or did the idea that people might not agree with your far fetched theories not strike you as possible? And what if she is Russian? Does that make her less American? Or if she's Irish and still thinks your sky is falling stories are nuts, does that make her less American? Welcome to America and the right to have multiple opinions.

Outside the fact that you are obviously paranoid you are proving yourself to be a racist equally. You've asked just about every freeper that has countered your arguments their ethnicity, as if that plays a role in intellectual debate.

You, sir, are an out and out bigot.

You don't see them because you cannot see them unless you visit there. Have you?

My guess is you get your information from what little is reported in US media outlets. Historically, on Russia, the only good news is bad news....when you get it from the big 3.

But rest assured they are there. And just try to imagine making a "go of it" in a democracy when your country was previously governed by communism, and you were inherently poor as a result.

Appreciate your American lifestyle and freedom each and every day. Thank the almighty heavenly father for what you have.

I do.

TapTheSource, no I am not a Russian - nor am I under FBI investigation like the WTimes source for this Russian/Iraq weapons story is.

By the way, stop being stereotypical. Russians are #11 on the list of hardest drinkers, and you know this from the chart I posted a couple of weeks ago. Americans are #17. Luxembourge, Finland, Ireland, Britian, Germany, France, Italy are all much bigger alcoholics as a proven fact. So stop perpetuating racist stereotypical statements. Be above that. This is no better then the Germans calling Americans a bunch of uncultured lard arses, or do you wish to sink to the French/German level?

We know Alexei is.

As for the Grannies with whom I prayed, they're the backbone of that Russia which has hung -- and still does hang -- on the cross with Christ for nearly a century now.

It's a different kind of drinking. Gross consumption does not speak to the fact that wine's a fixture at every meal in Catholic nations, for instance.

I have never once had to kick my way through a "low cloud cover" of brown beer bottles in the train stations or tubes of four of the nations you mentioned.

Nor was I treated -- as a first glimpse of a capital city, alighting from the train station -- the sight of a Moscow policeman kicking a bleeding drunken bum across the parking lot and out of the way.

I have never heard the above put any better. Hope you don't mind, I plan on using your thought a lot in the future!!!

I'm just wondering what motivates a certain clique on this site to defend Russia NO MATTER WHAT...Even against the United States. Doesn't that strike you as odd?

As long as it's applied consistently across the board, I have no problems with your stealing it lock, stock and barrel.

"Just curious but have you ever ran across an article critical of Russia you didn't like?"

If the article is critical of Putin for not assuming even more dictatorial powers, or if they call for a return to Communism...these are the kinds of articles I do not like.
