BTW, the one beatitude that gets me in a lot of trouble is the "Blessed are the merciful" one. I keep extending mercy to people that I probably really shouldn't....;))

It is possible to extend mercy and still hold one accountable for one's actions. It's a tough balancing act but doable.

The way I see it, "but for the grace of God go I", and then balance that with, "to whom much is given, much is required". Bill was given a lot...so he needs to be held accountable.

He'll never be held accountable.
I gave up all hope of that, years ago.
Being a bit of sheltered little bumpkin, that's been one of the hardest life lessons I've had to learn.
Evil can and often does go unpunished.
It's rarely like that in "my world".

[then again, my world was previously *much* "smaller" than it is now, thanks to the internet]
