Bush to Visit Columbus Today
Columbus Dispatch | November 2, 2004

Posted on 11/02/2004 3:46:37 AM PST by Loyal Buckeye

It is being reported in the morning edition of the Columbus Dispatch that President Bush will be coming to Columbus today, Nov. 2, to help GOTV.

The article is not yet posted on the Dispatch's online site.

It appears to me that Pres. Bush is taking no chances with Ohio and doing everything he can to end Kerry's chances here.

Remember who is leading the effort in Florida. Another very capable leader whose last name starts with "Bush" and who won in a landslide his last election.

Turnout big here in rural WNC, too. Twenty-two percent of the 23,000 [?] registered in Transylvania County voted early. This morning when we got to the polls before 7AM, there was a 30 minute wait just to get in the door. The poll worker (judge) told me that they had "processed" seventy people in the first hour.

The big delay at our little precinct was that there were only five electronic voting machines, and also the ballot was seven pages long.

Having done our homework, my wife and I zipped right through it, but I saw some people take over fifteen minutes to vote.

Must have been some of the "undecided" voters.

I just got back from the polls, casting my vote for Bush/Cheney. Mom is there now, and my brother will be going in a little while to cast their votes for Bush! Lines were long, but for some
reason the L-Z line was short, so I got through in about 30 minutes!

First off - are you in OH??

Secondly, I doubt very much voter turnout will be 25 times normal - up about 5% tops (IMO).

I voted this morning in Columbus. I got there at 6:15 AM, 15 minutes before the polls opened. There were about a hundred and fifty people in line waiting to get in. It took me an hour to vote. The poll workers said it was the highest turnout they had ever seen, and, of course, poll workers tend to be elderly.

I'd say that turnout was maybe five to ten times normal.

Have you heard where he'll be in Columbus? Thought maybe I could get to see him depending on his location.

From what I understand he will be at Bush-Cheney HQ around 11:30 (just in time for me to get back from flushing Westerville). If you come down, plan to allow for parking time. When we went this morning for our instruction meeting the area was already quite congested.

I'm think that the President's lead in Florida is greater than the margin of error. His lead in Ohio must be within the margin of error. So that's probably why he's hitting the state today. As others have said, taking nothing for granted. At least that's what I'm telling myself for peace of mind. I don't want to go down any dark roads today. Jim

I'd think W either voted absentee or did early voting.

I live in OH... unfortunately you can't tell the difference between democrats and republicans here in Ohio. Thanks mostly to our liberal RINO governor and sometimes RINO senators. So there are many many "anyone but Bush" people who will cast their vote for Kerry.

I'm not trying to be negative just realistic that Ohio is not "in the bag" and it is the governor's fault (and the Ohio republican party for being weak and supporting liberal RINOS "because they are electable" instead of standing behind true conservatives).

I hope Bush carries Ohio but don't thank Taft for it if he does.

Bush made a Dallas stop at 10:00 Monday night - then on to Crawford. The Ohio visit is on his way BACK to Washington.
