In my hometown, Lancaster, PA, there was a drive-in diner run by some Amish folks (talk about a cultural conflict). They would tie their buggy up in the back.

When you got a sandwhich, it was thick sliced home-made bread piled high with baked ham, etc. Milk shakes were just that- Real ice cream and whole milk. Freedom Fries were fresh cut double fried to get them crisp. Mmmmmmmmmm! Real food. We were called 'English', as we were not plain folks.

My next door neighbors were Mennonites. Mrs. Mellinger used to make a pumpkin roll....thin sheet of pumpkin cake rolled up around some fresh buttercream. Oh...I'm drooling just thinking about it. And then there were the Fastnachts (donuts without a hole). Fried in lard of course. Wow.

Anyway, go out and vote!

Wow, you're making me hungry!. I ate at the Good & Plenty restaurant in Lancaster a couple of years ago. Wow. Also I also consumed a whole shoo fly pie I bought at a bakery in Intercourse. I think I gained 5 lbs my 2 day visit to the area.
