Just a Note
Kerry people are stressed, too.
A guy at my office works the phones for the Kerry Northwest campaign (Washington, Oregon, etc.).
Their people are freaking out over exit polls indicating Kerry tied or losing in Oregon.
Plenty of pressure for everyone.
Mr. Mew got me started on them. They're excellent. And as far as the veiled references, I can see what you mean. They're food for thought but, FWIW, nothing that annoys me.
How close it was in Oregon 2000 - results:
Gore 46.96%
Bush 46.52%
Huh? Okay, I'll bite. I've always gotten the feeling from Weber's books that he's part of the conservative branch of the sci-fi writing community. (I mean, the Peeps themselves seem to be modelled on a society where Democrats have run amok. And Napoleonic France.) And the Grayson folks, while a bit extreme in some of their views in the early books, have turned into more admirable people than the Manties in some of the more recent books. What exactly are you seeing in your read of the books?
KATU is having one of their reporters cruising the city tonight in search of rioters. A producer down there thinks there could be trouble if Bush is announced as the nationwide winner early.
Grayson is his image of a utopian state part USA and King Arthor of the round table.....Gwenive
At least that's how it seems to me.....lots of references to the US in the old days.....
Ah. That pretty much agrees with my interpretation. I was misreading you then. I thought you were saying that Weber was over on the other side of the fence.
