10. It's much more fun watching Terry McAuliffe go down in flames than whoever the DNC chairman was in 1984.
9. In 1984, John Kerry and Tom Harkin were elected to the U.S. Senate.
8. In 1984, Republicans lost Senate seats overall (-2).
7. In 1984, Republicans won a few House seats but still were well in the minority.
6. In 1984 Dems won most of the Governor's mansions and state houses.
5. Walter Mondale was too easy a target.
4. The satisfaction of knowing GWB got a majority of the popular vote, which Clinton never did.
3. Did I forget to mention we swept both houses of Congress...AGAIN?
2. Democrats not just defeated, but made IRRELEVANT in vast portions of the nation.
1. We didn't have FREE REPUBLIC in 1984!
Please feel free to make any additions or substitutions!
well put. bravo.
George Bush will enter the Presidential archives as one of the best presidents in US history. I'm thinking dollar bills, aircraft carriers and national treasure monument (OK , maybe not the last one).
I haven't seen Terry McAuliffe since early last night. Will he emerge later today to tout the great victory the DNC achieved ... in Illinois! ROFLMAO!
the fact that the press, hollywood, and michael moore threw everything that they could at this president and he still prevailed. this is a true victory.
In 1984,I was 13 years old and not old enough to vote.
I was 7 years old in 1984 and didn't appreciate it at the time like I do now. :)
Tom Daschole will now be running for dogcatcher in SD Indian reservations.
11. I'm 23 now, I was 3 then.
LOL! Maybe we should call him up!
OMG I am going to go have a martini on that news.
I love GWB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11. Michael Moore lost
Add: GWB has faced the most unrelenting series of personal and political attacks (including a media that has completely shed any pretense at objectivity) in history, and still managed to get more votes than any Presidential candidate ever...
1984, Reagan and Flutie at Boston City Hall Plaza. Flutie got "Schillinged" for that. Now that the important stuff is over, it's okay for Boston teams to start winning again.
11) I like staying up to 3am to watch results!
This is just as enjoyable as 1984. The biggest difference is that some of the big liberals are much more devastated and thoughtful this time. In 1984, they could just chalk up the Reagan win to, well, Reagan, and assume they could get back to normal business after a while - as they no doubt thought was the case in 1992. This time, they have to realize that they are indeed a minority, and nothing they can do - not slickster candidates, not massive GOTV drives, nothing - will change that. This election catastrophe for them, led by a man they had four years to slime and besmirch and belittle and who they hold in contempt, despite all their efforts, has to dig much deeper.
