What they'd find is that the 49.9% of New Yorkers who voted for Bush would move to Virginia or Texas the day after such a split up, and that NY would not be that terribly wealthy a place afterwards.
What? Barely 40% of New Yorkers voted for Bush.
Unless we "close" the borders that is....:)
