He doesn't want to talk in hypotheticals because he doesn't want anybody to try to hold him to what he says.

"He's a good guy, but he seems a bit light in the loafers."

He is married with kids and is constantly bashing libs on his show. Would you prefer he be a rabid pitbull?

Yep. He's defending his Borking, and only giving satisfactory praise to Thomas.

Speaking to that specific thing he mentioned he blew a hole in his "I will not apply a litmus test" lie. Bork didn't pass his test so he voted against him.

He's talking about how Thomas has just been a "satisfactory" justice etc. among other things.

And did you hear why? Because Thomas suggested to Scalia that revisit US Supreme court decisions that Thomas didn't agree with just because... I don't blame Scalia...

As I said, he is immensely better than he was, but I do maintain he is intellectually and charismatically deficient compared to the likes of Rush and some others.

"Bork didn't pass his test so he voted against him."

I can't criticize him for voting his conscience as a Senator... its Specter's sworn duty to represent the people of his state... who voted for Kerry.

He is coming to beg the conservatives... "Please believe me I want only pro-life judges too!!!"

he can't possibly grovel enough to make me stop writing letters to Frist.

Keep your crazy, reasonable logic away from this panic-inducing thread!

Right. He is unique in his own way. The worst thing any radio host would do is to copy everything about someone else.

Why would you compare anybody to Rush. He's the pioneer. I tune into both (and others) to get different types of shows. Tony Snow is good too. They all bring their own things to the arena.

Specter has supported every Bush judical nominee so far. He fought hard to confirm Clarence Thomas and he voted for the PBA ban and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.

Arlen only straightens out right before he's up for election. Which is precisely why he did all of the actions you cite.

Well, he's not up for election anymore.

Let's not forget the Bork fiasco.

I say trust Bush and the rest of the Republican leadership. If they feel confident Specter will perform as Chair in a way they feel is right then what's the problem? Its not like they can't vote him out as Chair later if he screws up.

I don't think it's the end of the world if Specter becomes chair, but once he is in it would be really difficult to get rid of him...

Did Sean ask him if he would be using Scottish or American jurisprudence as his guiding light yet?
