Nov. 10, 2004 -- Leora Dowling and her husband thought returning from deep in "red" America to her native New England would make them feel more comfortable, more like the people around them shared their values. Since the election, she's been contemplating another move. To Italy.

"After the election, my husband and I asked ourselves, 'How could our country be heading backward? How could so many people miss or choose to ignore the obvious failures of the Bush administration?'" the former Florida resident said.

It's called Democracy. If the libs can't handle it, America is better off without them.

There's no better test of a person's belief in Democracy than the reaction when their side loses.

I just can't imagine many on the right threatening to take their ball and go home if Kerry had won. It's a juvenile, puerile response to real-world politics. Good riddance.

What a bunch of sanctimonious horsesh!t. These people are so arrogant that they can't even comprehend how wrong they are. It's just so simple to them. They're right, and that's the end of it, and they can't live with the backward "dummies". Endlessly drawing the wrong conclusions from the lessons life offers them. No concept of history or the history of freedom. I hope they DO leave, so that when they get what they deserve, the rest of us don't have to share in their fate. I understand now how these dictatorships come about. A huge portion of the human population is just freaking STUPID and ARROGANT. What a deadly combination.

What has happened is that 60 millions Americans said "No" to the Left's ongoing attempt to change America into a Marxist Utopia

It astonishes me how seldom this point is made -- thank you! The Lefties continually whine about how our values are being forced on them while the exact opposite is true: they've been forcing their secular Marxist values on the rest of us for the past 85 years! They've done it through subversion of our once-independent instutions: media, schools, courts and even some of the churches.

This past election was a warning. We've had enough of that. If the Lefties refuse to accept the election results and persist in trying to gain political power "by any means necessary," they may be met with sterner opposition of a kind the Founders would understand.

True True True. Speaking of Veterans Day, go pick through one of FR's local Tributes to our Troops. NicknamedBob, Billie, Mama Bear, Just Amy, I, and a cast of many others put our feelings down to share. Here is the link to the start of Veterans Tribute. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1276105/posts?page=61#61

Well, to ease her mind some, things certainly aren't as bad as she thinks. Why, here in Texas, at least in my neighborhood, they blow the bugle at 6:00 AM, sharp. We go out to the street in front of our house for morning count and exactly 22 minutes of devout prayer and then are free to move to the day's work and training. During the day, we watch 30 minutes of patriotic Ashcroft tapes. It is all wonderful and, we'll be moving this wonderful new and inspiring program into the blue states as soon as possible. We have a plan!

(I know, I know, but she'll believe BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO BELIEVE IT!!)

Some Say U.S. No Longer Feels Like Home

What my dad and many teachers (in the old days, at least) told me must be true then...

Some people just don't like progress.

What's this country coming to?

This is no longer the country in which the broadcast (mainstream) media dictates to everybody what to think, liberal college professors and union shop stewards are at the top of the social hierarchy, seniority is rewarded over merit, squeaking wheels get the grease, wages are tied to demands rather than productivity, etc.

The beauty of today's global economy/society is that people should be where they are most comfortable, among those with like values. I'm sure the answer to those socialist countries dreams are more people demanding something for nothing -- or the most for the least. No more of those people needed here. Let's make room for the truly industrious, productive and entrepreneurial people of the world -- who make it happen and are not privileged deadwood fighting to hold on to their exaggerated senses of self-importance and inflated self-worth.

If these defenders of their deluded status quo circle the wagons any tighter, their heads will be up each other's butts rather than just kissing them.

Hey Leora, I have a friend in Galveston, Texas that owns a 49 foot sailboat. He charges NOTHING for the passage to the country of your choice!

The boat leaves every hour on the hour. He'll be more than happy to assist you!

I can tolerate a lot of the changes but not all. The good news is that American Patriots seem to be waking up again. I've been yelling wake up since Jimmy Carter was in office!! Constantly apologizing to the world and in your face liberal humanist gay baby killing abortionist feminist bull crap has run it's course. It nearly destroyed us. I think 9/11 was a louder wake up than I had been yelling.

Sometimes there are more NY plates in Bennington VT than VT plates. Samething has happened to Southern NH and ME with people from MA.

we call 'em flatlanders.

I was raised by my Grampa up in the north woods - he was a Maine Guide -

left as a young girl and lived all over the states.

Now back in state, but further down. Too easy for flatlanders to get to. Sometimes I yearn to get back up in the north woods - lotta bear, lotta moose, few people - but good down t'home people...A little 'red" spot

Glad you enjoyed it. Amy did a good job of pulling all those together on one thread. Billie and Mama Bear make and find great graphics. NicknamedBob and I write as therapy. Usually we write silly stuff or political stuff but when it comes to our military men and women, we get serious.
