Marine accused of wrongful shooting needs our help...
16 nov 04 | Atlanta

Posted on 11/16/2004 4:34:34 AM PST by Atlanta

I'm going to start with a communication of support of this young Marine, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself. Then, President Bush and my Senator/Congressman.They are going to hear from me and I have all friggin day to do it. I am so livid about this that words cannot describe. As a former Marine myself, this young "Leather" was doing what he was trained to do, adapting to unreasonable circumstances (enemy tricks) and he did exactly what I would have done and what has always been done with a fanatical enemy. If authorities hang this Marine out to dry, I will never stop raising hell and will become a point man for pulling these guys out of theater entirely...MSM is SICK. Other suggestions?

I'm more concerned with what the administration and the military does to this Marine. The media is behaving as we would expect - we don't expect much from them, and they deliver every time.

But I tell you this - if the military steamrolls over this marine and court marshalls him - this war is over. These guys are fighting and dying, losing arms and legs, going house to house because its too PC to blow up the buildings with bombs - and now they have to face this crap too?

Bears repeating.

I'm with you. I contacted my Congresscritter's office and will go through the list of contact email/addresses that get posted here.

There is no way this kid should take a fall for this.

Wouldn't be ashame if some of the "embedded" didn't quite get the same protection "attention" as they had in the past?

Every advertiser who buys air time on any NBC program -- including local sponsors -- needs to be identified and boycotted. That takes time, organization, sacrifice and determination. That's what it's going to take.

"I am intrigued by your reference to age... what is the significance to that?"
No significance. Eventually, we'll be accusing one another of senility. :~)

"I didn't know my age was known."
It is still a closely guarded secret. ;~)

I'm in Charlottesville VA. I just called my Senator (John Warner (R), Chairman of the Armed Services Committee)........

(202) 224-2023

.......I got a Secretary and asked if they were taking opinion-phone calls on the Marine being lynched by the media for his shooting a terrorist. She said, "Yes", and I told her I hoped Senator Warner would be supporting these young men who are out there doing their duty in extremely difficult conditions. I further said that I have been watching the news and felt that the MEDIA was trying to lynch this young man and I hoped that the Senator would try and tamp down the hysteria the media was trying to generate over this.

I ended by adding that Sen. John Kerry got a Purple Heart for the same type of thing.

Here is an e-mail I sent to the Dirt-bag who made the film. Trust me my friends it was all I could do to not go off real bad on him. I have also e-mailed the President and Vice President and called the Commandantof the Marine Corps office. We gotta help this kid and all of our military. I don't want to see the MSM turn this into a whine fest the way they did Vietnam.

Mr Sites
I felt compelled to write to you in light of your alleged charges against a marine in Fallujha, Iraq. I think your film and commentary are the most disgusting display of journalism I have ever read from a disgusting profession. I think you should be charged with treason for releasing your film to the public. Don't you know that every derogatory line that you people broadcast about our government or military gives aid and comfort to the terrorist. Aren't you intelligent enough to see that. I truly hope and pray that some dark night Mr al Zarqoui pays you a visit and I get to see you on your sorry ass begging for your life. I don't think there is anyone in the United States that would lift a finger to help you. There are millions of angry Americans this morning and remember you have to come back here some day. Instead of a Pulitzer I think your career is over.

Agreed...and let's not forget the fact that this "reporter" (hate to use the word) was provided safety and cover by the very same brave men he is "reporting" against...makes me wonder if he is still with the same unit. I'm guessing he's not very popular with them right now. It sickens me...

It has not been proven the Iraqi was still alive. He moved slightly ONLY when a soldier kicked the corpse.

Besides, these same marines had experience with Iraqi's faking being dead, and then ambushing our guys.

The military tribunal should find him guilty of nothing more than desecrating a corpse, and at most, given 7 days of confinement to barracks along with K.P. duty.

"Can't have it both ways."

Reread my comments and get informed as to what my position is. You wan't the MSM to show video and have people make up their own minds. Unfortunately, video alone does not tell the whole story, nor does video with prepackaged conclusions.

Why were the troops even put in danger? Where are the dang B52s? Rummy is as much responsible for this as that young Marine.

Great...just flatten the city with B-52s? I think a nuke would have been cheaper and more likely to be sure to kill all civilians and any insurgents trying to escape. </sarc>

I agree with every word..including supporting pulling out if they hang him out to dry...except I would support pulling out the PC politicians from their jobs who will fail to support this soldier as well. But I won't mention any names. You know, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, unless of course you're powell.

Hey, this war is coming to the US soon. {Largest mosque being built in Boston etc} Soon we will all be soldiers. If we don't support and protect this Marine, there will be nobody around to protect US when we are accused by the government gestapo of war crimes when we were only defending our homes and families.

It's coming...and we are allowing it.

It is time to STAND..and this Marine is a good place to start.

Where did you get that number? I looked up the Marne corps website and it shows 1-703-614-1034/1054. I called the number you gave and some guy said this is the Commodores office.

I heard Barry Young on the radio this morning talking about this and he said that because our stupid PC policy of protection innocents, we gave the City of Fallujah residents (and terrorists) 3 weeks to move out as we were coming in...So, why the story? Our Marines SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FIGHT 2 ENEMIES AT THE SAME TIME! Reporters CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH THE LIVES OF OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN...

Thanks for posting the Marine PR line. I just called and got through to one of their officers. He said that they have been flooded with supportive messages, and requests for "what can we do"? He said to keep writing/calling MSM, and our government officials. Very sharp and nice guy, and says he appreciates the outpouring of support. So let's keep it up!

You're right; our troops are more in danger because of the embedded reporters. Because they're standing by ready to sabotage the military, our troops are intimidated and cannot do their job. W should pull the embeds ASAP.

Senators, etc., have begun to pay little attention to e-mails. If possible, best to (1) hand-write a letter, then (2) type a letter, (3) make a personal phone call and, last, (4) fax. E-mails are given less attention than the others. (Or so I've heard.)
