I'M BACK! Well, sort of. Work and kids are still keeping me busy but I've gotten a little bit of my FReeptime back. I still lurk more than I post due to time constaints, so keep pinging me.

WHO'D A THUNK IT!?

Super Bowl XXXIX Champion New England Patriots

One of my heroes (2nd in line behind my parents). I only wish I were old enough to vote for him!

First off, the name. LoneGOPinCT. 1.)I know there are more Republicans in the state of CT than just me. But sometimes it just doesn't feel that way! 2.) Since I consider myself a Conservative first, virtually every "Republican" politico in CT seems foreign to me. But "LoneConservativeinCT" was too long for my liking so I stuck with the "GOP" moniker. Besides, in CT every Republican (no matter how RINO) is considered a raving, right-wing lunatic so I figured I'd just stick to it. Amazing how relative things can be!

I began lurking here at FR during the Lewinsky fiasco. I started out using it as an info. source instead of wasting my time with the network newscasts and my local rag newspaper. As time went on and I spent more time here, I became more and more comfortable. I finally became a registered FReeper after a bit of apprehension. I didn't know any HTML and was worried about posting something the wrong way, in the wrong place, or pissing someone off.

During the post-election fiasco, I just had all these things on my mind that I had to get out. I finally just bit the bullet and went to HTML Bootcamp, played around a bit, and just started posting away mistakes be damned! I took part in one of RaceBannon's Sore/Loserman FReeps in West Hartford.

Anyway, FR has become my homepage. It is the first place I go in the morning to see what is going on in the world. I now feel comfortable here and have made some good FRiends. I would like to thank Jim and John Robinson for providing Conservatives this forum.

I'm far-right Conservative both fiscally and socially (Do As I Say & Do, Not As I've Done), Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, Pro-School Choice, Pro-Meat, Pro-Global Warming, Anti-IRS, and Anti-Union. I am the very proud father to four kids (3S and 1D, Son#2 has Down syndrome) and husband to a stay-at-home wife.

As far as homosexuals go, I really don't care where you want to put what, just don't force it on me or my family and try to make us think it's normal behavior, because it is not. While technically a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, I am agnostic. But I do have tremendous respect for those that are, so I am honored to be incorrectly labeled by most as a member of the "Religious Right". I do not believe The Constitution says anything about the mythical separation of church and state.

I am not, however, offended by sexual innuendo, vulgar language (have been known to use them occassionally ;-), especially at Patriots games) or violence in movies or on tv (big fan of the God-Father series, any Clint Eastwood flick, the Sopranos, South Park, Family Guy) and am a big heavy-metal fan (Ted Nugent, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Creed, Metallica, Motley Crue, Pantera and others), love ZZ Top & Lynard Skynard but I am also a country music fan and do listen to it when the kids are around. On the other hand, my kids WILL NOT watch these type programs or listen to inappropriate music until we decide they are the right age, as it is our responsibilty to as parents to do so.

Long suffering Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins fan (even rooted for the Whalers when they were here). I've been a Celtics fan since the days of the Triumvirate (Bird/McHale/Parish), but now find the NBA practically unwatchable so I don't follow the Celts as much as I did when I was a kid. I also despise band-wagon fans of all teams including my own.

As a NASCAR dad, I am a big fan of the Sprint < insert sponsor here> Cup racing but I really enjoy the local short-track racing scene with my 10yo son. Can't beat the price and proximity (distance from home and from the seats to the track) plus we can go to a race or two or three every week!

My feelings on abortion:

1. If a women gets pregnant, she have the baby. If it's unwanted, put it up for adoption.

2. We make abortion illegal because a women's "right to choose" ended when she chose to (a)have sex, (b)not use protection, and/or (c)assume the risk of said protection not giving 100% control. In the case of rape, incest, or the mythical "health of the mother" (see the AMA's position-abortion is NEVER the only option), I'm not opposed to discussion, but I will not condemn the child for the actions of it's "father". I realize there are psychological implications, this is why I'm open to discussion in these circumstances only.

We need to get this country out of the "abortion of convenience" cycle. I have no religious basis for my views whatsoever, it is out of my personal view of common sense. You just don't kill babies because "mommy" can't keep her legs together.

Basically, I'm a liberal's nightmare. A Conservative with an attitude. I'm not confrontational but am very defensive. It's pretty simple, though. All I want the IRS out of my wallet and the government out of my life.
