Child sex offenders becoming bigger and bigger problem
KTRK-TV (ABC 13) ^ | November 19, 2004 | Jessica Willey

(11/19/04 - HOUSTON) — In the headlines these days, it seems children are becoming sex offenders at a younger age, and their victims are other children.

Amidst the slower pace of Montgomery County is a problem that's growing faster than the justice system could ever expect. "You have 10-year-olds who are preying on four-year-olds," said Judge Fred Edwards of the ninth district court. "You've got 12-year-olds who are preying on six-year-olds. It's a mess. It's an absolute mess."

Judge Edwards has been the juvenile judge in Montgomery County for two years. Every Monday, a handful of handcuffed and shackled children march into his courtroom to face their charges. And the number of sex offenders among them is on the rise.

"In the year 2000, there were 25 cases of sex offenders by juveniles and this year, the year's not over with, there are close to 60," he said.

It's almost triple the number in a few short years.

It's hit home for one mother we spoke with who we won't identify.

"He still has nightmares," she said of her son.

She says her six-year-old first grade son became a victim at school. He was in the bathroom at Palmer Elementary in Fort Bend County when another six-year-old, naked, crawled under the stall and sexually assaulted him.

"He got my son to stand up, pushed him against the wall and was rubbing himself on my son's backside," she told us.

No longer do parents have to be concerned just about adult sexual offenders. Child sex offenders are on the playgrounds and even in the classroom with your children. In fact, in Harris County, there are 163 juveniles attending school while on probation for felony sexual assault; some as young as grade school. So how are they already sex offenders?

Lonique Pritchett with The Children's Assessment Center said, "Most of the time when children are touching other children, it's because they have been victims themselves and they're only acting out what has happened to them on their peers."

Pritchett has treated children as young as three years old. Almost half of the center's caseload is juvenile sex offenders, the majority of whom have been victims themselves. For Judge Edwards, who tries to first rehabilitate these children, it's a vicious cycle that has to be broken in the home.

"If they've been raped since they were four years old, if they see this all their lives, see it on the Internet, see it from their older brother, then they're going to think that that's normal," said Judge Edwards.

What's not normal are these signs parents can watch for in their children to see if they've become another child's victim:

Unusually aggressive behavior Persistent sexual play Symptoms indicating evidence of physical trauma to the genital area Eating problems And sex talk inappropriate for the child's age The boy who assaulted the mother's son we spoke with is too young to be charged, though he is in counseling. Despite her protests, he's back in the same school and is now part of the younger face of sexual deviants, the face Judge Edwards sees too often.

"It has to be a change in our social values, family values," said Judge Edwards.

There are 163 juveniles in Harris County schools on probation for felony sexual assault. That's up from last year when there were 124 kids on probation. For a breakdown of where these juveniles go to school, click here

Authorities we've spoken with about this story tell us judges would not let a juvenile back into the school system if there was a concern he or she would be violent again.

I'm just saying that if two kids are caught playing doctor they shouldn't be labeled as sex offenders and hauled off to juvenile.

Kids don't get such sick ideas on their own. They learned it from some sick adult (or TV/movies and their parent/guardian IS responsible). If half the molesters are male and half are female--and if half the victims are male and half female, then we would have 25% male homosexuality and 25% female homosexuality involved (total 50%). I'd bet the actual homosexuality figures are well over 50% and predominantly male. Yet even the most inflated figures of the homosexuality of the U.S. population is 10%....it's really more in the 1-3% range according to some reports. What's wrong with this picture? -- if half the kids initially debauched by molesters were PUBLIC EMPLOYEES acting homosexually, with their child charges? Seems like the ACLU would be all over this.../sarcasm

While some SRA is indeed hype, I can speak from personal knowledge that it does occur. Those who denounce it ALL as 'false memory syndrome' often have something to hide--as did those Reds who denounced McCarthy.

BTTT. More evidence that moral decay is growing by leaps and bounds. When are they ever going to learn?

It's just like the theory of relativity only spiritual. The less morality the more chaos!

The SRA hysteria was largely from two realms: actual practitioners fearful of being 'outed' and actual attorneys eager to cash in. The faked cases take realistic elements and then try to persecute someone or blackmail them. I know of a woman who was suicidal and depressed, institutionalized several times...finally a bona fide expert identified her real case of SRA. As evidence of her actual vs. imagined SRA, she learned at about age 55 that her cli*oris had been in fact surgically removed, in a ritual female circumcision. This was in America....by her parents, who lived an evil, double life. She is healing now and quite sane, by the Grace of God. An excellent author on the topic is Dr. Neil Anderson, formerly a prof. at Biola University, I think now is president of a college or school of theology.

"I've never seen NAKED 6 year olds crawling into stalls and molesting other six year olds.. Maybe there ARE people out there who would believe such tripe."

It is very real, my FRiend. I deal with these children day in and day out, both victims and perpetrators, or more accurately, victim perpetrators, who have had their natural curiosity morbidly twisted into an unholy menace. My youngest "perp" is a little girl, 5 years old. She soils herself and she cries from pain when she has to urinate. She has genital lacerations and herpes. This little girl's only crime is having a stump stupid mother and a stepfather whose picture is in the dictionary next to "scumsucking pervert."

Ptarmigan:
Adult predators in circumstances where there is a proponderance of physical evidence, should receive capital punishment for abusing children. Zero tolerance. IMO.

KMC1:
Castration after first offense would solve this...

What about a compromise? First we castrate them then we execute them.

No compromise. Execute them. Period. Millstones and the Marianas Trench are a good combination --after-- the public hanging...got to make examples....

Stoning is obsolete: at a stoning, what with all the people surrounding them, we can't be sure that the TV cameras could get the final few moments as the criminal expires.... /facetiousness but NOT sarcasm....

Homosexual Agenda + Moral Absolutes Ping list.

Children becoming molesters and sex abusers. Anyone have any idea how or why that happens?

1. They've been molested themselves.

2. They've watched sexually explicit movies and TV.

3. They've watched their elders perfrom such acts.

All of the above ruin the innocence of children, and then the ruined children go and ruin other children.

I remember 20 years ago seeing a friend's young children watching TV with sexual innuendo I considered inappropriate. Since I don't have a TV and never watch it, I can barely imagine what kids are absorbing now.

If anyone wants to say that watching crap on TV and movies doesn't affect anyone, I counter with this argument:

If watching and hearing stuff didn't affect anyone, the advertising industry would sure be wasting a vast sum of money.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off either of these pinglists.

P.S. Child molesters should be executed.

If you do it right, castrating them **will** kill them. . . of course, it requires minor things like not sewing things back up. . .

I'm sickened. I shouldn't read these articles before bedtime.

When children are ruined like this, their lives are essentially over. Hardly anyone can overcome histories like these.

There are many aspects to these kinds of problems. So there isn't one magic solution. But one thing that really stands out as immediate first aid is an increase in application of the death penalty, and no appeals. Convicted of child molestation or even attempted molestation? Take 'em out in the back and kill them. Toot sweet.

I'm wondering where you live. Or what you read or how you inform yourself.

You really think that children don't sexually abuse other children sometimes? What about tossing smaller children out of windows or beating up people to death?* Children are becoming criminals of all varieties.

When roughly one third of births are out of wedlock in the US (about 75% of all black babies are born to unmarried mothers), is it any surprise that so many grow up wrong?

*News stories from the last few years.

"Now where on Earth would kids get the idea that this kind of behavior is OK?"

I would think the first thing one would look at is the parents.

That stuff has an insiduous effect on everyone even those who don't want to be affected. Your counterargument is a good one.

It truly amazes me when people say that watching junk - whatever kind, but particularly sexually explicit junk - doesn't affect anyone.

I mean, they've wired up to peoples' brains and found it totally affects brain function.

And ads work! If they didn't, companies wouldn't spend gazillions of dollars on advertizing. They aren't stupid.

I have known people who couldn't stay away from porn. One in particular. He was couldn't not keep a real relationship with a real woman. Could not. Maybe some people don't like the word "addicted" to porn. Ok, not addicted in the way people get addicted to heroin or meth. Let's say extremely habituated to.

Clinton's legacy of trickle-down immorality and NEA sex "education" forced down the throats of even the smallest school children.

What is to be expected.

Filthy, amoral society and ruined little lives.
