Should The F-22 be cancelled?

Yes. This type of aircraft has no place in the modern battlefield and Foreseeable conflicts. The money could be put into more usefull sistems (each unit cost about $235 million for 239 planes) Whats your opinion?

Yes so we can put that money into funding the Banshee!

Haha! I always thought that thing looked like the B5 White Star.

F35 is/will be a pig compared to the 22 in the performance catergory. We will need a 10 to one kill ratio to survive the war with China. A plane that underperforms won't get it done.

HELL NO!!!

I'm no expert but my good friend who flys F-18 hornets is. He is a huge advocate for the F-22 and everyone is dying to get out of the hornet and into the Raptor.... if given the chance.

My point is that the money can be better spent on other system that will provide the same result as the f-22 and cost less.

As much as we would not have to consider it, this is true. We need to have a robust developmental capability and military hardware industry.

I'll start out respectful-like.

NO. The F-15 and F-16 are now over 25 years old each. We now need a new fighter to counter not only current threats (MiG-29, Su-30), but any future air threats. The F-22 is the finest fighter ever designed.

The JTF-35 is a non-starter, and will in all likelihood be killed, as it is too heavy, and cannot be fixed. Unmanned aircraft are nowhere nearly advanced enough to take up the slack.

The US simply MUST remain well ahead of all others, period.

As for the cost, that would be considerably less had Congress not short-sightedly cut the number in the order. Had the aircraft been ordered at the original number of over 700, the unit cost would have been far lower.

The V-22, which you mentioned, is NOT a fighter, it is a cargo and assault aircraft.

Aw hell, I thought you meant the V-22 Osprey. That's a kinda marginal case, but I support it.

The JSF is an absolute necessity as far as I'm concerned: given the tech advances, the price is not relevant.

Air dominance is better insured by better missile/bomb/satellites than by Ultra advance and expensive planes that can be easily destroyed.

These are two planes with two different missions.

F35 is close air ground support primarily with the ability to go toe to toe and be stealthy.

F22 is advanced air defense via stealth. Denying our enemies the sky. We need them both. Without the F22, the F35's are vulnerable. If the F35's are vulnerable, our troops on the ground are vulnerable.

"Air dominance is better insured by better missile/bomb/satellites than by Ultra advance and expensive planes."

What's your basis for this inane statement? Bombs still have to be carried by airplanes which need escort and fighter cover. Satellites cannot drop bombs or missiles, and missiles cannot outmanuever countermeasures.

The Chinese have no means to detect and kill an F-22 before it ruins their day.

The thing with the F-22 is that it will be easily countered by missile technology. Air dominance is better insured by better missile/bomb/satellites than by Ultra advance and expensive planes

I'll take the advanced fighter aircraft as the weapons platform that launches the missiles and bombs at the enemy before he can see or can react.

"replace them with the F-35s, "

The F-35 cannot do the same job, and is likely DEAD. It's too heavy to do its OWN job.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about?

I said other systems. Air dominance is better insured by better missile/bomb/satellites than by Ultra advance and expensive planes. The chinese only need to buy a high tech missile from the russians to blow up a 235 million dollar aircraft.
