Did you hear about the resolution the US House just passed commending Boy Scouts for all they do and condeming the ACLU and other group's legal efforts to push the Scouts out of using public facilities, like U-S military bases?
The measure, btw, passed 391-3. Here's the punchline:
Michigan Congressman John Dingell, 1 of only 3 Congressman opposing the resolution applauding the Scouts, will be receiving the Detroit Area Council's 2004 Distinguished Citizen Award!
"The purpose of the Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is to recognize remarkable individuals, to create an awareness of Scouting's positive impact in the community, as well as to secure necessary funds to continue to keep our promise to the 100,000 young men and women that the Detroit Area Council serves each year," states the Detroit Area Council's website. "Detroit's top community leaders who have reflected the values of Scouting by their outstanding community service and this year is no exception."
"Democratic congressman John Dingell was one of three U-S representatives to vote against a resolution commending the Boy Scouts," states NBC's WOOD-TV8. "The resolution that passed 391-to-3 also condemned legal efforts to limit government ties to the group because of the Scouts' requirement that members believe in God."
You wouldn't expect the National Rifle Association to give Rosie O'Donnell an award, or Planned Parenthood to give Senator Tom Coburn an award. Likewise, why the heck would the Scouts give a distinguished accolade to 1 of only 3 Congressmen who voted against a fairly straightforward pro-scouting measure?
And the late Yasser Arafat wins the Nobel Peace Prize....
And of course, Congressman Dingell-berry sees no hypocrisy in accepting the award...
They should seriously rethink giving Dingell this award. It makes NO Sense...
Ask anyone. Dingell's no good without Norwood.

Wow!, talk about turning the other cheek!
Madison, Wisconsin has a lesbian represnetative and I wonder how she voted.
It's called class (with a touch of irony thrown in). The meaning of this gesture, however, will go straight over the head of the dense Dingell. And these are the kind of Democrats who think they're smarter than anyone else? Hahahahahaha!
Hopefully, they plan to plant the award firmly up his rectum.
Does anyone know who the other two distinguished gentlemen were who voted against the Scouts in the 391 to 3 vote in congress?
Also voting against today's resolution were Barney Frank of Massachussetts and Lynn Woolsey of California.
Traitor-Teddy was given the "2003 George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service" in October of 2003.
Go figure.
There -- now, *that* makes more sense!!!
He's also no good without Thorazine.
Anyone know any Mich news people? We need to get the word out...
according to the website, questions regarding this can be forwarded to Rebecca Fields ( rfields@dacbsa.org ), Detroit Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
"It's called class."
It's called "reaching across the aisle and working together in a spirit of bipartisanship"... At least, how it's defined by the scumbag liberals.
Boy Scout Ping
Someone please wake me up. If this guy is going to receive an award from the scouts, why pull this?
