Not true. I have an SUV, I go the speed limit or 5 miles over, and I am tailgated every time I leave my house. The people who tailgate me are young people in rotten old cars, middle aged women on cell phones in SUVs, guys in pickups trucks, and monster delivery trucks.
I've been tailgated by SUVs on the 101 Freeway at 3am when all the other lanes are open. When I move over a lane, they actually SLOW down.
Most freeway accidents are from rear enders...
Just rewire your vehicle. Hook up the brake lights with your gas pedal. Step on the gas and the brake lights come on.
Seriously, I either turn on my emergency flashers or slow down. After being rear-ended by a damn tailgating idiot, I hate them all the more.
"The people who tailgate me..."
I commute daily from Frederick, Md. to Montgomery Co., a rich suburb of Washington, D.C. I find that the most aggressive drivers in this area are young females (not teenagers) driving Hondas and Accuras. I've saved many a person a ticket because I drive 30 mph thru a little town that doesn't even have a stoplight, but 2 - 3 times a week has a radar trap. As soon aas I get pst the town, I am frequently passed on a double yellow line by the person I just saved. Sometimes wish I was a trooper in a unmarked car.
