This article, like the CNN article about this subject, really really edits out a lot of what Rumsfeld said. Both articles are designed to make him sound dismissive.
I have seen clips on Fox and CNN and he expounds much more than is indicated here.

Why not ask tough questions?Who said they shouldn't?

Never mind---I see who!
I agree with you, they are entitled to ask questions if they are in good faith.
To: cyncooper
Why is that any surprise. You know the MSM motive. Especially CNN..
To: Sprite518
No surprise, just pointing it out.

"Those in congress who voted for BILLIONS in pork need to be arrested for treason"
And let not forget the free traders that sent all or manurfactoring to China, now it appears we can not product the armor our guys need. Way to go free traitors.

I assume you referred to the fight on Omaha Beach because there was a Guard outfit in it, the Stonewall Brigade? They sure got one hell of a welcome to WWII. Made old Stonewall proud, I'm sure.

Since the time of the Romans, it has been a soldier's right to complain. I see nothing wrong with that. These men are dieing over there; the least we should do is listen to their complaints and try to be less judgemental.
You all say it, but it sounds like you do not live up to your words when you say you support our troops.

Sorry, but I am not going to accept any excuse for why they military doesn't have exactly what it needs while we are wasting 10 of billions of dollars on pork projects.BUMP

Rumsfeld - "You go to war with the Army you have,"
What an idiotic thing to say. He's lost it IMHO and should be removed by Bush immediately. Only Bush Administration true believers can defend a stupid statement like that. These guys are dying and Rumsfeld can't control his baby boy temper!

There should have been a Army 0-6 appointed 12 months ago...and given the money fix every vehicle in 120 days.<<
Yes, that should have happened. Airing grievances in the public/world forum is not the way to get it fixed. I don't call the newspaper every time I'm disgruntled at the dealership service department.
The Military has a chain of Command that does not include the MSM.
BTW In the Civil War, Soldiers fought in bare feet, bloodied by their own movements. In WWII, there were shortages on the Front as well as at home. Everyone bore the HARDSHIP of WAR, without belly-aching where the enemy can hear.
Sorry if ya'll dont like my opinion, but that's all it is.

I DONT EITHER. NOTHING WRONG WITH COMPLAINING.
These men are dieing over there; the least we should do is listen to their complaints and try to be less judgemental.
IF WE HEAR THE COMPLAINTS, THE ENEMY HEARS THEM AS WELL - SO MORE MEN ARE PROBABLY DIEING AS A RESULT - THE ENEMY KNOWS OUR WEAKNESS WHEN IT IS PUBLISIZED.

Then Rummy should have kept the Q&A session private. You can't blame the troops for his poor security.

You can't blame the troops for his poor security<<<
I don't blame "the troops", JD. I blame those particular troops that felt the need to publicize this . . to put Military Command on the spot . .to call in the media, probably with the help of liberals/democrats in high places. Bush haters using weak troops to do their dirty work and make our Military look weak and ineffective.
BTW, how do we know that this is all not part of a "Campaign of misinformation"?

I don't know about you guys but I didn't care much for some of the answers that Rumsfeld gave to the troops. I really feel bad for them, they put their lives on the line for this country and Rumsfeld acts like it's no big deal. Does Rumsfeld care at all for these soldiers?
