John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)." "

That is by far the most dreadful song. I'm not surprised NYers like it that guilt trip in a song though. "Let's hope its a good one without any fear"--give me a freaking break!

I'm with you on the Lennon song. I have to turn the station whenever it comes on. I just can not stand it, not one part of it, the words, Yoko's voice, and that singing in the background that sounds like a bunch of cat's wailing(sounds like a chorus--maybe a chorus of Yokos?)

I nominate Stresand for worst song. Her Jingle Bells is absolutely manic. I still think our military should use it for breaking down the enemy. Could be worse than underwear.

Oh crap, that would be my other pick. Springsteen singing Santa Claus is coming to town. The guy definitely always sounds plugged up. I'm convinced it is because he shouts instead of sings so he's really pushing to get those songs out. Another reason to dislike Springsteen.

Ok I found it. It was released in 1984. It was called, "Do They Know It's Christmas?". That has got to be the worst Christmas song of all time. Oh and get this there is going to be another one out!

Yeah, I hear you. I don't like any of her Christmas music because she tends to chop up the song too, I can only think because parts may offend her. Her version of Silent Night she cut out Christ the Savior is born.

A side note, everytime Linus reads from the Bible about the true meaning of Christmas in the auditorium, I get a tingle in my spine and a warm feeling in my heart.

Didn't know anyone else felt that way. That stunned me when I was but a lad, 30 + years ago.

I so much agree. Desperado, whether done by the Eagles or Linda Ronstadt, is a more adult, mature song than Paul's drippy Yesterday.

Ronstadt pretty much destroyed Desperado for me when she dedicated it to Michael Moore this summer.

I think Bob Geldof headed that one up. Judging by Bono's activism in Afican affairs, I can only assume that meeting kind of was the introduction for him into things going on in Africa. I go round and round with folks like Bono--like them or not. For all his pestering us, he genuinely seems to care about what is going on over there and pumps a lot of his own money into it. I do think he's fooling himself if he thinks he can cure what ails them(that was Jesus job and he's not Jesus), but I hesitate to put him in with the other libs who give lip service to human charity. He really seems to carry very deeply about what is going on there.

Okay, stop it. Now you are scaring me. A chorus of Yokos is the stuff of nightmares. LOL

and that ridiculous one from the 80's, the "feed the world" one. One of the lines is "there will be no snow in Africa this Christmas" no kidding-it's AFRICA; it's also summer. There better not be snow. I hate that song.

That is one of the few songs that makes me automatically hit the tuning button on the radio the instant it comes on. Ditzy Chicks and Linda Ronstadt songs make me do the same thing, as do a few others.

Her version of Silent Night she cut out Christ the Savior is born.

HAhahahaha!! That is the main theme of the song. What does she say instead?

That is a great one. One of my favorite lines in that song is when they sing,"This child that you delivered, will soon deliver you"
