President’s daughter applies for job at D.C. public school

Jenna Bush, one of President Bush's two daughters, has applied for a teaching position at a public school in Washington, D.C., according to a report in the Washington Post.

The president’s daughter wants to teach at Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School in the Mount Pleasant/Columbia Heights neighborhood of the capital. The school serves low-income children and has 250 pupils enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade. Ninety percent of the pupils come from low-income homes.

The White House has not released details of the job, but Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for first lady Laura Bush, told the newspaper that Jenna Bush “will live in Washington and will go to work at a public school.”

Linda Moore, the school's founder and executive director, wouldn't confirm she has hired one of the president’s twin daughters, telling the Washington Post in an interview that it doesn’t discuss the relationship between a prospective employee and the school until there is a “formal agreement.”

Oh, 6th grade and down. That sounds possible. For a second I thought for some reason it was High School. I was gonna say, I'm sure Jenna would make a fine teacher and all, but 30-40 horny teenage guys would eat her alive.

I don't know if I would put it exactly like that.

But you might be surprised. I've spent the last eight of my 16 years in teaching in an inner city high school. The sweet young things can usually take care of themselves pretty well. I saw one new teacher (real KNOCKOUT, too) handle an overt pass made by some dumb jerk...ummm JOCK this way:

Jock approaches and makes rude comment: Hey sweetheart, when are we going out together?

Female teacher appraises jock coldly from head to foot and responds thusly: Come back in ten years when you're a MAN.

Jock slimes his way from room, to howls of laughter all around.

I look at female teacher and remark: Good going. You destroyed his manhood in front of his peers. I think you just created another woman hating serial rapist. This girl was a serious witch with a capital B. The kid got what he deserved, but I think it could have been handled better.
