Blair told to act on knife crime

Relatives of victims in emotional appeal to PM

Rosie Cowan, crime correspondent Tuesday December 14, 2004 The Guardian

Families whose loved ones have been stabbed to death launched an emotional appeal yesterday, urging Tony Blair to jail those who carry knives as weapons for at least five years. Among those who went to Downing Street to hand in a letter to the prime minister were Jayne and Paul Walmsley - the parents of 14-year-old Luke Walmsley, who was stabbed in a Lincolnshire school last year - and Antoinette Rodney, the mother of Kieran Rodney-Davis, 15, who was knifed for his mobile phone in Fulham, south London, in June.

The relatives are backing a campaign by the independent charity, Victims of Crime Trust. It claims that a child dies from stab wounds every two weeks in the UK and that knife killings outstrip fatal shootings by three to one.

Then teeth (oops they've done that)
Then hands
Then feet
Then humans

If there were no humans in Great Britain there would be no murder.

Why don't they just ban everything, put everyone in straight jackets and turn the place into one big padded cell.

to jail those who carry knives as weapons for at least five years.

Sounds reasonable if it means that someone is jailed for using a weapon while committing a crime.

It's what they should do about guns while repealing all other gun laws.

They ban guns, and gun crime shoots up. Now they want to ban knives, because even the cops don't have guns and can't protect themselves.

Britannia is nuts these days.

"More UK weapons control will get more of the same, dead citizens and coddled criminals."

As you note:

"Attacks more common than burglaries - police
By Paul Waugh, Evening Standard
24 December 2004
The public are now more likely to be violently attacked than burgled, police watchdogs warned today.

Chief Inspector of Constabulary Sir Keith Povey called the rise in attacks "unprecedented" as he unveiled a new report.

Published just hours after the stabbings in Edmonton, Sir Keith's study showed the spread of the knife culture and the level of gun crime. Incidents of violence against individuals soared by nearly 15 per cent to 955,800 in 2003/4, up from 834,000 the previous year.

Burglaries of homes and businesses fell to 818,600 last year from 888,000 in 2002/3, meaning there is more violent crime than household theft in Britain for the first time ever."

Let's not forget one thing that there are plenty of: Icicles! The next law passed will most likely ban the existence of such menaces to society.

After knives are banned I'll be anxiously awaiting the stories when citizens are forked or spooned.

The act of turning seemingly innocuous items into deadly weapons had been elevated to a fine art in our prisons.

You've outed PETA!

That clarifies things. It's a secret plot to eliminate all humans so animals can take over the UK.

Oh, wait. Maybe they have ...
