More and more good folks are finding out about Terri and that judicial tyranny would take her life, but for lots and lots of prayer and non-stop lobbying of relatives, friends, clergy, our leaders, the media, a passerby, a cashier - ANYONE who you feel comfortable chatting with.

Folks always want to know how can this be in America or on earth for that matter? Unfortunately, this is really happening to an innocent woman who just celebrated her 41st birthday. She's not the only one but she's the one with devoted parents and siblings who knows what's in Terri's heart. Terri has a strong will to live. That's apparent. It's been 14 years.

Besides, feeding tubes have been around practically since the Civil War. They are not high tech devices. Terri is "not hooked up to machines". Her feeding tube is the diameter of a piece of spaghetti.

Talkin' about Terri is the best way to lobby for her. It is a salespitch to save her life and subsequently, many lives. If you've never sold anything in your life, START NOW. START WITH TERRI.

The most significant event in Terri's case in January, was the Supreme's Courts refusal to hear Governor Jeb Bush's appeal, after the Florida State Legislature struck down Terri's Law. This once again places Terri's life in extreme jeopardy, though there are other issues regarding her case before the court.

In Shakespeare's morality play, Antonio borrows a large sum of money from Shylock to help his friend Bassinio. In open court, astute, clever and disguised Portia, acknowleges that Shylock, per the contract terms, is entitled to a pound of flesh from Antonio, which will kill him. The judges who desperately want to find a contract loophole to save Antonio, finally have to rule for Shylock. But at the last moment, as Shylock prepares to mutilate Antonio, resourceful Portia advises him that he is only entitled to exactly and precisely one pound of flesh, without bone or blood or anything else in the mix. Otherwise, he will have violated the terms of the contract (analogous to Greer's order permitting only the withdrawal of Terri's feeding tube). The judges like this solution and readily consent to the exactness of Portia's contract definition.
What Greer's order doesn't include (and legally can't) is the withholding of all food and water because, under Florida law, self-murder is illegal, and anyone "deliberately assisting another in the commission of self-murder shall be guilty of manslaughter, a felony of the second degree," (782.08).
Settlement of legal complaints in Shakespeare's day were often finalized by personal court appearance and testimony under oath, without submission of written documents.
All food and water being withheld from Terri would be solely attributable to HINO. It might be possible, with astute and clever use of the self-murder statute, that HINO could be prevented from achieving his goal. But public clamor will not accomplish this relief; only filing of the necessary and appropriate documents with a court of competent jurisdiction will suffice.

Definitely, if Greer would do his job. But since he refuses to uphold the law, I'm looking for something that would go to the criminal courts, such as tax evasion on Terri's funds, Medicaid fraud, or some other criminal activity. That way, Michael's unfitness to be Terri's guardian can't be ignored.

Michael, who knows full well Terri is NOT in a coma, will NOT allow anthing THAT would prove it.

Larry King asked Michael if they could take video of Terri and Michael said NO becuase they were protecting Terri's privacy.

What really gets me is that Michael's motivations are so OBVIOUS. And yet the media and the courts never call him on it.

This is all so shocking. The majority of the country seems to be on Terri's side, but we are helpless to release her (so far).

Majority Would Remove Schiavo's Feeding Tube

Three times as many Americans think Terri Schiavo's feeding tube should be removed as think it should remain and — if in her place — most Americans say they would prefer the tube be removed.

When asked to consider what action they would take if they were Schiavo's guardian, a 61 percent majority says they would remove her feeding tube and 22 percent would keep the tube inserted, according to the latest FOX News national poll conducted by Opinion Dynamics Corporation.

Terri Schiavo (search ) is the Florida woman who has been in a "persistent vegetative state" since 1990. Schiavo's husband, who believes his wife would rather die than be kept alive artificially, is currently in a heated legal battle against her parents. Terri's parents believe she could still recover and want the feeding tube to remain. After Schiavo's feeding tube had been removed for several days, it was recently re-inserted by an order from Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

"It seems clear that if the governor and the Florida Legislature passed the law and ordered the tube replaced for political motives, as some of their critics have charged, then they miscalculated the politics," comments Opinion Dynamics President John Gorman (search ). "On every important point of the dispute, the public agrees with Mr. Schiavo and the courts that have ruled on this matter."

Majorities of young Americans and seniors, men and women would remove the feeding tube in Schiavo's case and would want it removed if they were in a similar circumstance. Self-described conservatives are less likely than liberals to support removing Schiavo's feeding tube, but still a majority of conservatives supports removal (56 percent to 70 percent among liberals).

Half of Americans believe the spouse should be the decision maker in right-to-die cases, while just under a third say the parents or other family members should be the ones to decide. Hardly any think the decision should be left to the government (two percent) or to the patient's doctor (four percent).

Polling was conducted by telephone October 28-29, 2003 in the evenings. The sample is 900 registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
