STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.

Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).

Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.

Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.

Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

I can say without a hint of hyperbole: this was Bush's finest speech.

And if you remember his speech right after 9/11...that is saying a lot. I don't know if it matches that, but, as they say, it's close enough for government work...

Brit came off as kinda "underwhelmed" by the speech, I thought. Whats up with that?

None of the Fox guys seemed like they liked the speech that much----

Harry Reid's voice is totally irritating and his lies are maddening!!!

No. After the State of the Union, the one immediately after 9-ll, Tom Daschle grabbed onto President Bush and wouldn't let go...it looked like a little boy seeking comfort from his Dad. In that moment....and never afterward, Tom Daschle felt sincere patriatism and determination to assist the President defend this country.

This time it was President Bush who instigated the hug with Joe Lieberman, and I'm certain it was out of appreciation. I don't know if you've noticed, but Joe Lieberman has been all over television, strongly supporting President Bush, our military, and our country at war.

Apparently Reid thinks we need to protct American workers so that cheap crap can be made in the good old US of A under the union label. When I grow up I want to work in a shoe factory! L0L

Harry Reid is either the Ned Flanders of Bizarro World, or the poor man's Tom Daschle.
