I got the Animal House 25th Anniversary Edition for Christmas. I remember it being reviled as a "dumb comedy" when it was originally released, but it's unbelievably intelligent compared with most of today's "comedies." Vernon created such an indelible character in Dean Wormer. In his own way, he was as funny as the Deltas.

Well his career died at least (I'd say doing Twisted Sister videos was pretty much a sign of that)

"We're going to Kansas to set things a right." I saw the DVD (again) 2 weeks ago.
That line (one of many memorable lines in the movie) was actually delivered by the actor playing "Bloody" Bill Anderson. He died before the credits were over.
My favorite Fletcher exchange was with Red Legs Terrill while waiting at the ferry. Red Legs remarks that after they get Wales and the Kid they'll go after the others. Fletcher reacts angrily stating that with Wales and the kid it ends. Red Legs replies that "Doin' right ain't got no end." The old granny smoking a pipe and watching starts laughing.
I think "Doin' right ain't got no end" should be the motto of the RAT party.
BTW some of the named characters in Josey Wales really existed. I recommend John Edwards,"Noted Guerrillas" for a detailed history of the MO guerrilla war. Edwards was a newspaperman who knew many of the guerrillas, including Jesse James.
His history is a romanticized version, but I still like it.

"The most intruiging thing about that phrase if how the writers of Animal house knew about Michael Moore even back then."
LOL, maybe you're on to something....

Wasn't he also the head bad guy in "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka"? Despite all expectations to the contrary, that was actually a pretty funny movie.
