With all his background in philosophyPhilosophy?
When did he spend great amounts of time in 'philosophy '?
Maybe you have Michael Weiner confused with someone else; this cat (Savage) has 'nutrition' background (based on the books he's written) ...
Brief, to-the-point bio:
Born 60 years ago in the Bronx, Weiner has lived in Northern California for most of his adult life, making a living as an herbalist and nutritionist. He communed with Fijian traditional healers, got married in a rain forest and studied ethno-medicine at the University of California at Berkeley. He swam naked with Allen Ginsberg, dreamed of being the next Lenny Bruce and wrote a rambling novel about a half-mad alter ego. His son's middle name is Goldencloud. For years, he made a name cranking out a pile of books on alternative medicine, recommending bizarre remedies such as using vitamin C to stop AIDS and kicking cocaine with coffee enemas.
If a topic comes up on the medical practices of South Pacific islanders, I'll defer to him. Otherwise his title means nothing to me. (BTW, I'm also a Dr., but the only time I mention it around here is when I'm speaking in my area of expertise)
Sorry, anybody who feels the need to tell people he is a "doctor" every five minutes, and have his minions call him "Dr. Savage", is compensating for something.
But I would be willing to overlook just about everything and go back to listening if he would just show a BIT of a sense of humor. The man is utterly humorless.
He has studied some philosophy. Anybody with a PhD should. Doctor of Philosophy. He has not read Schmitt on the State, although he should.
