Actually, it's quite fun to fight'em, you know. It's a hell of a hoot. It's fun to shoot some people. Doesn't sound right.
Any WW II Vets feel the same way? Was WWII fun?

I know some WWII vets whose worst life experience was saving some SS camp guards from their surviving Jewish prisoners.
One would imagine that lasted about 10 minutes and then they gave up, but I didn't ask.

Was WWII fun?Being in trenches, soaking rain, artillery coming down on ya, time in the field hospitals, on patrol... probably not. But what about just one specific part of war: shooting people. You should ask WWII vets if shooting Axis soldiers was fun. Most of them would say no, but I'll bet there's a few who enjoyed it.

I think when one is winning and feels strongly and is a Warrior,,,it is fun as hell and they don't want to do anything else.
The ordinary soldier, probably not.
He used a poor choice of words but the man is not a literary figure or scholar. He is a warrior and I will cut him some slack.

I'd be very interested in how you would counsel the General. I myself feel that enjoying your work is half the battle and if killing these scum makes Gen Mattis happy I hope he pisses his pants with joy.
What we need is a reality check and it's known as 9-11.

Was WWII fun? Two questions: "was WWII worth doing?" and "is doing things that are worth doing enjoyable?"
Well, "enjoyable" may be a little strong; but "worthwhile", certainly.
So the General's a yuld; at least he's a mensch, too.
