This is unbelievable. I didn't vote for this kind of nonsense.

I absolutely don't get it. If a democrat were pulling this stunt we'd all be screaming at the top of our lungs.

I love Bush but I am NOT happy with this decision, why can't he connect the dots?

I know. bush had better start acting like a real conservative or he's going to lose all his support.

I don't get it. But I'm sure some apologists will be along shortly to explain why this is a GREAT thing to do.

Cutting manpower doesn't mean they'll be any less effective at keeping our borders secure. One man with the right equipment can do more than 30 guys out there on foot.
It sucks that they have to make these cuts but it'll suck even more if they don't pass some sort of immigration control bill that has more bite than bark.

You can use all the high tech equipment you want to find/track em but it still takes manpower to hunt em down, detain em and send/deport em back where they came from. High tech is useless without the manpower to back it up.

It sucks that they have to make these cuts But somehow Bush managed to find another $930 million or so to give to the countries affected by the tsunami, plus $100 million for Poland.
To: redhawk
If he had done this before November, we might be complaining about President Kerry. What is this man's blind spot about immigration?

What is President Bush doing? I just don't understand his agenda any longer, what is the driving force for all this nonsense?

Catching them isn't the issue. They will always find a way through no matter how many agents we have out there looking. Not to mention all the problems that we have with "students" who come over here and never leave. Until we decide how we're going to deal with immigration problems as a whole, having more bodies patrolling the border won't make a difference.

It's a sad day when Lieberman sounds better than the President. :-(

Not completely discounting this report yet, but is it possible that the San Francisco Chronicle has a disinformation agenda just to get you folks upset with the President? It wouldn't be the first such instance.

Did you see Walter Williams column saying this money is not Bush's to give? Charity should be voluntary but he is giving involuntarily money. We are one of the most generous nations but this is ridiculous. Who knows where all this money will really go? Surely there will be tons of graft.

I really don't understand Bush's mentality on immigration.
Unacceptable.
