DEAR FREEPERS (FROM PUKIN DOG) * VANITY *
E-mail | February 22, 2005 | PukinDog

Posted on 02/22/2005 5:24:00 PM PST by arasina

Dear FReepers,

I wanted to say hello to all my friends out there, especially the usual suspects; arasina, Peach, Rokke, Long Cut, and all the rest. I received an email from arasina with a few messages in it from some of you, and it touched me to find that I am still on the minds of some of you, without assuming that all those thoughts are good ones.

Fact is, my last month on Free Republic was an example of what happens to someone falling into depression. For a number of reasons, personal and professional, I became unhappy with my life. I was unsuccessful at my attempt to rejoin the Navy or the Reserves in order to teach Rokke that there is still some skills in these old bones, and you all know that I work for the worst airline of the face of God's earth. (Yeah, you bastards, fire me. Please!)

I don't think it is right to be flying essentially a big-ass bus in the sky, when my former compadres' are risking life and limb in the Middle East. The retirement of the Tomcat is another thing that I have not coped well with. These and other issues caused me to spend a lot of FR time either apologizing for, or at least regretting something that I had written. I decided to leave FR in order to get better control of myself, because I realized that I was using FR to stoke my ego, as opposed to just being one of the crowd.

So, where have I been? In Proverbs. I read Proverbs every day of the week. I have made a promise to my God that I will live by what Solomon told his son. I wont return to Free Republic until I can write something without the need to win the argument, slap someone else down, insult someone, or generally behave like an a-hole. That will happen when I have worked through my 'issues' and learn to walk better with God. The fact is, I started believing my own 'press'; the PD Fan Club, and all that. The Bible has taught me about my folly, and my need to humble myself.

To Long Cut:

What the hell did I tell you? Do you feel stupid? Return my salute, Boy! I am proud of you. The one thing you need to remember is that none of us has any idea of what we are truly capable of accomplishing. Doubt yourself again, and I will hunt you down.

To Rokke:

Okay, I am old, but I will still wax your fanny given the opportunity. I might stroke-out when it is over, but no G-limiter would get in my way, son. You fly a pretty jet, but fighters should be mean and ugly, like me. Stay safe.

To everyone:

I still lurk on FR and laugh with much satisfaction over what is happening to the MSN. (can I be allowed just one "I told you so"?) Pat yourselves on the back, FReepers, because whether or not you get the credit, YOU are the ones that made this happen. YOU have taken away their power, and inspired the blogosphere to kick ass and take names in a big way. I salute you. We won the election, and there is no stopping us now.

I could say more, but I will not. The fish are still safe and alive; the rain will eventually stop, as will my sour attitude. God blesses me daily. There are too many of you to mention directly, but I have forgotten none of you.

Pukin Dog.

P.S. - Hunter S. Thompson is a pussy.

They work! I am putting on muscle where it went away.

Can't work my right leg at all though.

Exercise of the joints keeps the arthritis pain at a minimum however.

The books of Job, Wisdom and Ecclesiasticus are good too. Also Psalms. Praying the entire course of Psalms within one week is a devotional practice of liturgical Christianity.

"For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation." Ecclesiasticus 2:5.

Good luck and God bless.

Though a year short of class of 98, howlin gets a mention as #11 of the old timers (by my informal survey) who have posted good thoughts to PD on the thread.

Pukin, the only reason your jet doesn't have a G-limiter is because it can't pull over 3 g's in the first place. Besides, when that passanger you carry in the backseat ever gets tired of yapping, he can just tap you on the shoulder if you ever take a little nap.

Since you left, I've been wondering around aimlessly, hurling odd insults into the dark and kicking at stray dogs. It just isn't the same. But I've finally got my son convinced that all jets with two tails are junk, and now I'm going to start a personal campaign to convince everyone on FreeRepublic the same thing. So you better not take too long a vacation.

In the meantime, I'll go out an gun an Eagle tomorrow in your honor.

Here ya go, Larry. This is for PD too, of course, since he holds Peggy Noonan in high 'eSTEAMY'.

You'll notice that Peggy and I look nothing alike, but we do have a few things in common. (I'm a former, albeit 'temporary' liberal snot, for one.) ye olde arasina

And a BUMPER to the top! LOL

Please pass this on to the "puker". When I found myself so depressed that I could not laugh or joke or be happy or positive about anything, I realized I had to do something to get out of the downward spiral of negativity. The answer for me was as simple as forcing myself to watch the "three stooges" every night. After a week I was kicking butt again, and have never looked back and that was ten years ago. Sometimes thinking too deep or being too introspective can make things worse. Be silly and goofy and come back to us here at FReeper city soon. We miss your intellect, insight and outlandish sense of humor. I agree about Hunter Thompson of course. LOLOL.

PD, From a mama of a clinically depressed son, I'll pass on my motherly hints.....
Drugs are good....The kind you get a prescription for!
Drink plenty of liquids....non alcoholic ones!
Eat healthy....God made foods not man made!
Get lots of exercise.....Get off the couch and walk around the out side of the house at least once an hour!
Sleep a set number of hours a day and then stay up....Do something even if it's walking through K-mart or sitting on a bench watching people go by.
Surround yourself with positive people who care..... (That includes FR)...
Become spiritually well.......If you aren't going to church find one.
Read.....I told Arisina about a book in freepmail that more than one person has told me changed their life.
Take care of yourself.....Love your neighbor as yourself....The first criteria is to love yourself....Don't be too hard on you....That's why we were given His Grace. KNOW that you are loved!

Hello,

Wow, from a really long term lurker and recent poster, it is so good to hear from you!

I always enjoyed your take on things and am sorry that you found yourself enjoying life less and less (which is depression). Without going into great detail, I will say that I can understand. I wish you well, and look forward to the day that you will return to us, as you are missed.

Glad to be here, MOgirl

[ Speaking for myself, I usually avoid getting lured into bannable situations. ]

When banning occurs I have faith its for good reason..
Anyone of us can limit out on this political crap...
i.e. when one points at someone.. theres three fingers pointing back.. I point alot so am thrice guilty.. and don't care... I'm a bad man... d;-!~
