BAGHDAD, March 10 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Government on Thursday announced the arrest of ten assistants of terrorist leader Abu Musaab Al-Zarqawi, including persons in charge of propaganda for terror acts, personal guards, an advisor and two drivers.

A statement by the Iraqi Cabinet said the arrests were made during the last 15 days.

The statement identified the financial advisor as Abu Walid and said the man had offered some financial facilities to the terrorist group.

One of the arrestees is a commandeer of a terror cell in Mosul and another is an expert in bomb making. (end) mhg.

Running out of taxi cabs......Is that the reason they used a garbage truck last weekend?

Why am I starting to believe that we have this backwards?

Maybe we're not closing in on Zarqawi, but cleaning up after Zarqawi.

Seems like it might be a good tinfoil exercise to consider that maybe they HAVE Zarqawi, and they're getting snips of intel that have been allowing them to track down his co-conspirators lately, rather than the other way around.

Does he have a primary, secondary, tertiary and quarternary deputy assistant in charge of butt-wiping that we still have to capture before we get the Zarq?

Maybe we already do?

"When one lieutenant, prince, grand poobah, or whatever is captured/killed, another takes his place. But they're often less capable, which can result in even more compromises."

Yes, this I understand, but when does he run out of even the most inept, rudimentary Jr. flunky serving AS Grand Wazir?

At some point, you would think that these dopes wolud get a clue - Gee, all my friends have been either busted or killed. Perhaps it's time to find a new line of someting to keep my idle hands occupied that's safer than this - like basket-weaving.

I think this is correct.

If it's true, and if it's still secret, props to the SOF and intel boys who have pulled it off.

I'd like to believe it, but I simply don't think it's realistic with a high profile target like Zarqawi or Hussein. Too many leaks to the media.

But...but...didn't you read the story yesterday of that US "soldier" of lebanese descent who said the whole Saddam capture was a "hoax"? ;)

That guy's story's got more holes in it than Uday and Qusay.

By my count, this makes about 503 of Zarqawi's "top aides" who've been arrested.

He must be running seriously low on aides...

but unlike Hussein, he'll probably go out fighting and have to be pulled from that hole in pieces.

Yes, Commander, that's my official report. He would not surrender peacefully and we were forced to cut him to ribbons. No, Commander, there are no witnesses outside my unit to verify my story.

Shalom.

I think it is more a case of the Iraqui government having to demonstrate some success in catching these murderers especially in the wake of the horrible attack of yesterday. If we all look at these captures with hope imagine what the Iraquis must feel, lately they have been the principal targets.

So far, they've got all his friends, anyone who ever talked to him, his fleas, his clothes, his belly-button lint, his toe jam, his hair, his body odor (phew!), his dandruff, his farts, his karma, and his aura.
If you see a friendless, naked, totally spaced-out guy, that's the man!!

Do you think this was what was meant by "we are very close" in by General Myers in response to Brit questions.

You can't get much closer than caught.

I think that US military officials and others have made many statements about Z-man since 1-4-05 that are ambiguous as to his whereabouts and status.

If you ever have the opportunity to ask someone who could know if we have him, you will probably get a big smile, a laugh, and "no comment".

Or so I imagine...
