My take on the politics here in Belgium. I'm an American currently living in the Flemish part of Belgium and married to a Flemish, who provided the translation into English.

Perhaps this article will wake up some of these appeasers (and there are many) in Belgium. They live in denial since they have been bending over backwards to allow the Muslim integration into their culture.

It certainly gives ammunition to the Vlaams Belang party here who are trying to gain a foothold in Belgian politics. Currently the government is controlled by the Wallons (French-speaking part of Belgium). For those of you who do not know; Belgium is divided into 3 areas, Flanders (Dutch-speaking Flemish), Wallons (French-speaking) and a tiny area that is German-speaking. The Vlaams-Belang party is very strong in the Flemish part of the country, but the ruling Wallons and the high-court (French also) have ruled the party racist, since the Vlaams want to keep the Flemish and Belgian idenity intact by regulating the immigration.

A side note to this. There is a move on here by Flanders to break away from the government in Brussels. The country's politics are ruled by the Wallons because of the majority, but the money is in the Flanders area; therefore Brussels is fighting any move for this to happen.

Well, they would never want to be viewed as intolerant, or not progressive, so they must allow the Mohammedans to do as they please.

And, they think because they hate the United States, the Mohammedans will ultimately leave them alone.

I lived in Brussels until just one year ago in the NATO Community. It was an acknowldeged fact that over 100 known terrorist groups openly operate within Belgium. There is a hands-off policy by the government and enforced by the threat of repriasal by those can and will terroriZe the Belgik's!

I lived in Brussels between 1992 and '95 and I recall that the area around Gare du Midi was like a Moroccan souk. Apparently, things have only become worse.

There was also quite a lot of friction back then between the Flemish and Walloon communities, but after a series of violent demonstrations by both sides, and the death of the very popular King Boudouin (which led to a "we are all Belgians" slogan vampaign), it all seemed to settle down for a while. Other than religion (both communities are nominally Roman Catholic) the two seem to have almost nothing in common. The Flems are certainly the harder working and friendly to Americans of the two groups.

Dear lady,

You are at the tip of the spear, but that fact has not yet dawned.

Hi, I live in Limburg in the Netherlands. There seems to be a lot of links to the city of Eindhoven and Belgian islamists too. The mosque in Eindhoven also is connected to the one in Hamburg were Atta and another 9/11 hijacker went to.
