Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, standing upper right, prepares to arrest members of the Keys family as they were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo water Wednesday morning, March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The Keys family, of Burnet, Tex., kneeling, from left, Josie, 14, Gabriel, 10, Chris, the children's father, and Cameron 12, were all taken into custody. Galen Keys, upper left, the children's mother looks on, but was not arrested. The mother insists it was the children's idea: "I am proud of them," said the boys' mother Geilen Keys from Texas, who was not arrested. "They are very mature and they said 'we want to go and offer some water to Terri'."

Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, second from left, handcuffs 14-year-old Josie Keys, left, while Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies place her father Chris in the back of a van after arresting members of the family for trespassing Wednesday morning March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The family members were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a cup of water.

Gabriel Keys (foreground) is arrested by police officers for trespassing in Pinellas Park, Florida, March 23, 2005. The young protester attempted to take a glass of water into the Woodside Hospice for the brain-damaged Terri Schiavo. A federal judge rejected a request from the parents of Schiavo to order her feeding tube reinserted, dealing a blow to attempts by the U.S. Congress and the White House to prolong her life.

Deadly publicity stunt. The untreated water would have kill her outright.

I wonder what is going through the minds of those police officers as they arrest children for the Christian act of trying to give water to a thirsting person?

Go easy on them. Onlike the fat wannabe with the MP-5, these cops are just doing their jobs, as they have a swarn duty to.

I doubt the younger one with shades enjoys what he's doing. He looks sickend.

You grossly underestimate the intelligence of children.

My daughter is homeschooled. Those kids are homeschooled. And, yes, you can tell from a picture. If you saw a picture of my daughter, you would know she was homeschooled, too. There is a sweet, wholesome, innocent look to most homeschoolers. Most dress conservatively, also. Something you seldom find on a public schooled child at the age of 14.

Flame away.

The Children are in the service of Our Lord and Savior, tending to the sick and helpless, that is what he ordered,
something wrong with the lesson they are showing the world?

Is there any common sense left in Police Departments?
Good Lord just tell the kids, Okay you did your best now go home.
What a waste of manpower and paperwork. These cops and Chief of Police should be ashamed.

Josie Keys is letting the officer know what is on her mind. Gotta love it.

Consider it an educational field trip, that teaches far more than a day working in workbooks and listening to teachers.

So they should be old enough to understand that there was no possible way that they would have actually been able to give Terri water.

Duh! That's why they call it civil disobedience. The kids knew they'd be arrested, but they did it anyway. Nothing wrong with that as long as you pay the consequences. I understand the total cost of an arrest there today will amount to about $350 per person, so it looks like the family is making a big donation to a corrupt municipality today. But, it's their money and their right to spend it how they please. I'm guessing that the kids can apply for a pardon from Gov. Bush and will stand a good chance of getting it so that their arrest won't tarnish their records.

"The State of Florida doesn't look kindly on parents who encourage children to break the law."

Why not? They sure seem to look kindly on people who commit election fraud and who murder innocent disabled women.

You remember the palestinian kid that was shot- the whole thing caught on film and blamed on the Israelis, only to find out later the Palestinians had shot him?

This is only about 3 or 4 steps from that.

"Let's get our kids arrested for bringing supplies that CAN'T BE USED to Terry!"

So do the children of liberals at anti-war protests, but I don't support that exploitation either, sorry.

"please don't give anyone any ideas. . . ."

After reading threads like this, do you have any doubt but that it's occurred to someone?

Cop: "What kind of parents would use their kids in a publicity stunt? The water can't be used because it is untreated. Did they expect to pour this untreated water into the tube directly?"
