The whole Terri Schiavo story
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | March 24, 2005 | Diana Lynne

Posted on 03/24/2005 6:49:32 AM PST by thouworm

The life and death tug-of-war over Terri Schiavo is a 12-year-old court battle that remained under the radar of most major news outlets until recently. WorldNetDaily was among the first national news organizations to cover the story back when it primarily occupied the headlines of the local press in Southwest Florida, in November 2002.

As the rest of the news world works to catch up on this complex, multifaceted, precedent-setting case, readers have asked WND about errors and glaring omissions in the current widespread media coverage....

In view of this, WorldNetDaily has decided to mine our extensive archives to compile a comprehensive analysis of the Terri Schiavo story.

Thanks for that post & Thank God the RELEVANT facts are coming to public attention. Cable news has moved into obituary mode (soft music and all). It's not over til its over, and even then it won't be over.

Storm heaven with prayers, and storm this nation's citizens with the relevant facts --- facts that spit in the face of any notion that

1) there is "clear and convincing evidence" that Terri did not want to live by artificial means (BTW: tube feeding is artificial?)

2) that there is "clear and convincing evidence" that Terri is in a persistent vegetative state

3) that there is "clear and convincing evidence" that Michael Schiavo has and is fulfilling the obligations of a guardian.

The facts support reasonable doubt at least, and perhaps crime and conspiracy. Judge Bork is correct: "There has not been an adequate investigation of the facts."

Our voices are being heard on this guardianship issue. We can only hope it is not too late! If the worst should happen and Terri passes; then I do hope that Michael will see legal action taken against him and the truth comes out.

Judge Greer has ruled against the family many times historically and he may stand firm! With the evidence so mounting, why would he not rule on the side of life? County Court House says Social Services has no legal ground. I hope the next action is against Schiavo, himself for documented allegations against him in the past. Should Greer remove himself from the case..is the judge biased?
Grounds are there so why cannot an arguement be made to change the course of prior decisions. What happened to the "new eye" ? The Dr. from the Mayo Clinic throws no credible weight on Terri's medical condition?

Will laws be broken in order to save Terri's life out of heartbreak and desperation?

Schiavo should not retain custody.

Frustrated!

Breaking............
New case to be presented tonight 6:30 tonight. Looking at the law that Greer used to decide this case.

Just a hunch. The final word hasn't been issued yet in this case. But my worry is the continually deteriorating state of Terri's health. She needs nourishment and she needs it NOW!!!!

Ditto to both. Also worry/cringe/despair to think of Michael Schiavo alone in that room with her.

We can go without food longer than most people realize (I once fasted on nothing but water for 21 days), but water is the real present need. I think there is bodily deterioration in days, not weeks, without water. That she survived six days without permanent damage one other time amazes me.

I haven't seen this discussed, but I have been talking about it with my family and friends: The law requires the tube to be pulled (per "Terri's wishes"), BUT is doesn't require that an attempt not be made to feed her or give her water. THAT order is coming from Michael -- no ice chips; no moistened sponge; no nothing! I think that is criminal neglect.

If you remember a nurse testified that she first learned Terri could swallow when she used to give her a moistened sponge or washcloth to hold, and Terri started to suck the water out of it. Thereafter, the nurse would give her juice that way as a treat. She was also given pudding at that time.

It would seem that the law and medical ethics demand to see if she could take water and/or soft food that way now. Maybe she won't be able too, but why isn't anyone trying? Why is not the hospice compelled to attempt to give her water?

Because Judge Greer has forbidden them to.

He & Michael Schiavo both belie their intent, motives, and prejudiced state of mind by not ordering the hospice to see FIRST if she could eat soft foods and drink by non-artificial means before carrying out the directive to pull the tube. Often, tube feeding is for the convenience of the hospice or home --- too labor intensive to feed by hand, especially if the disability precludes use of a cup or eating utensils.

Why didn't it ever occur to anyone to try! Now that the tube is pulled, how can it be lawful to not try to give her sustenance by non-artificial means. If a ventilator is pulled a person breathes or they don't. Air is present to be inhaled. If a feed tube is pulled, a patient should be presented water and food via a means to ingest it. In Terri's case, a sponge. Why? Because she did it before, and it hasn't been tried since. It may not work now, but how is it possible it has not been attempted as a last resort.

Because of one egotistical, possibly corrupt, arrogant, and, yes, evil judge. Can you believe this is happening in the United States of America?

"Although initially finding Meyer's testimony "believable," Greer concluded the conversation could not have occurred in 1982, because he believed Quinlan died in 1976. At that time, Terri would have been only 11 or 12 years old and, therefore, would not have made her end-of-life wishes as an adult."

I guess the Judge doesn't watch enough TV to know that movies are recycled through the years and a movie that was made in 1982 could have been viewed periodically during the ensuing years on several different channels. What a narrow-minded a-hole.

Read on --- What's worse, Quinlan didn't die until 1985, not 1976. Shindlers filed a motion claiming that Greer made a "reversible error" in discounting her testimony. THAT obviously didn't go anywhere --- although Terri's "wish" is the heart of the case.

After I wrote my comment, I returned to the article and saw where the Judge was made aware of his date error. Like I said, the guy's an a-hole. I hope all the people who had a role in murdering Terri get their just deserves.

Tonight on A&E, they had a program on Terri Schiavo. During the first 15 minutes or so of the program, they have a film clip of Michael Schiavo on the Larry King Show. This is his exact quote: "She said...we were watching some programs and she said: 'I don't want...I don't want anything artificial like that. I don't want any tubes. Don't let me live like that. I don't want to be a burden to anybody." .

Yet, in the World Net Daily article : "Michael Schiavo told the court he and Terri had talked about life support when her grandmother was in a nursing home, unconscious for weeks and on a ventilator."

Besides being two different takes on when, why and how she told him she didn't want to be kept alive by artificial means, I'd stake my next month's pension check on the fact that each time he's told this story, he's embellished it even more.

This guy is clearly a liar. I'm not sure when his appearance on Larry King took place, but his statement seems eerily similar to that of Diane Meyer, whose testimony was trashed by Judge Greer. This guy fabricates a story eight years after the fact and then can't even keep that story straight.

Haven't read all the posts here but have been following Terri's case on TV and radio. I went to the terrisfight.org and read the timeline of events since her injury..what is interesting is that Judge Greer has been on the case since the first as has been Felos..and there is an accounting of the funds that were won for Terri's medical care..seems the lawyers got quite a lot of it. This "husband" is suspect right down to the ground. He has wanted her dead for a long time it seems and now he is going to get his own way and he cares little for anyone. Oh, the timeline also shows where he petitioned the court for her CREMATIOn and on Greta tonight she asked a priest about this as regards the Catholic Chruch. What do you bet that when poor Terri dies, that he won't even let her family come to the funeral..and of course cremation is a great way to prevent any post mortum....what a skunk.
There is a saying that what comes around goes around. It would be some justice if he were to learn the lesson personally that he is inflicting on Terri..What an EVIL man.

[ex-girlfriend]-"Cindy Shook gave a deposition to the Schindlers in April 2001, in which she stated that when she asked Michael Schiavo about treatment for Terri he responded, "How the hell should I know?We never spoke about this. My God, I was only 25 years old. How the hell should I know? We were young. We never spoke of this."

Do you have a link or something to the document from which this comes? I could really use it in a discussion on another board. Thanks.

Will look for it. In the meantime, check this out:

Another woman who was in a PVS condition has told how painful it was, when they removed her from the feeding tube, because some thought there was no hope for her.

I was hoping for a citation to a PDF of the affidavit. The whazzo aperture I'm trying to educate on another board does not see WND as a viable source - it's the kind of person who would not believe water to be wet until someone dumped a bucket of it over his head...

The buzzards aren't going to believe it, if J.C. himself came down and showed them.

Having said that, WND does have it's credibility problems: I read an article at WND that once said Rumsfeld admitted the 9/11 flight from PA (that Todd Beamer was on)was shot down by a military jet.
Seriously...
