Two weeks ago, Judge George Greer's pastor asked him to 'reconsider' his membership at Calvary Baptist Church, one of Clearwater's largest and best known Southern Baptist southern congregations.
Greer severed ties with the theologically conservative congregation within days of the request.
Calvary said it did not technically ask Judge Greer to leave. The truth, Calvary says is that Greer was the first one to walk away and had not attended the church in years.
The membership question was merely an attempt to make it official. Long before the current pastor, Greer had problems with members of the Southern Baptist denomination.
The Florida Baptist Witness published editorials criticizing Greer's actions in the Schiavo case. Greer later complained that Cavalry did not support him during that time, the Rev. William Rice said.

since these people dont believe in God, just what kind of a "church" is it? Perhaps someone better informed than I could help out. I went to the website and couldn't figure out what their beliefs clearly were.

I'm going to call that an error. Felos actually speaks to that unitarian church all the time. I assume this was just another one of his public talks about the case. Greer is a baptist.

That's possible. However, in the context of the article, it appears that, because Greer had not been attending the Baptist church of which he'd been a member, perhaps he was looking around for another place to attend.
Nevertheless, error/misprint is possible.

"Parishioners at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Clearwater heard Greer speak about the Schiavo matter last fall."
Surely this violates some ethical standard!
