Was the Schiavo memo a fake?
Washington Times ^ | April 6, 2005 | Brian DeBoseand Stephen Dinan

All 55 Republican senators say they have never seen the Terri Schiavo political talking-points memo that Democrats say was circulated among Republicans during the floor debate over whether the federal government should intervene to prolong her life.

A survey by The Washington Times found that every Republican said the memo was not crafted or distributed by him or her. Every one of them said he or she had not seen it until the memo was the subject of speculation in major news organs, particularly ABC News and The Washington Post.

Democrats said Republicans distributed the memo, and one Democratic official told The Post that a Republican senator gave it to a Democratic senator. The Times surveyed all 44 Democrats and the chamber's one independent, and only one of them, Sen. Tom Harkin, Iowa Democrat, said through a spokeswoman that he saw it circulated on the Senate floor.

"He said that the memo was being circulated by Republican members on Thursday before we went out of session, and that is when he saw it," said his spokeswoman, Allison Dobson.

Two Democratic offices refused to respond — Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat — the latter even as he continued to accuse Republicans of being behind it.

"We will not participate in the survey. News outlets have investigated and authenticated the memo was real and came from Republican sources. We have no further comment," said spokeswoman Tessa Hafen. "If you want more information on the memo, you should work on finding the Republican who wrote it."

She did not respond to a request to name the newspaper or network that had "authenticated" the memorandum.

Harkin saw this document while he served in the Vietnam War. Get with the program! Danny Ortega gave him an extra copy.

I'm confused.

(a) Has _anyone_ seen this memo? (I'd never heard of this memo until I read this story.)

(b) How can Mel Martinez condemn the memo if he says he's never seen it?

(c) How come nothing is quoted from the memo in the article?

(d) Am I the only one who thinks this is some of the worst work of a 'journalist' I've ever seen? You can't write a story just quoting people's denials.

(e) What's wrong with distributing a memo? Is written communication against Senate rules? Is it an unfair advantage, as if the Democrats can't type?

It appears someone knows there are a few if not more people in Washington who will act on rumor and don't ask for facts or even read an official document and emails them 'whatever' and they run their tongues off trying to disgrace or get something on somebody or political party taken it for granted that the made up piece is real fact or doesn't care if it isn't. Just think how much money, from now on it is going to cost to have an investigation every time a false or rumored document starts floating around about something that isn't true in Washington.

Crimony...what is with democraps and their pals in the media.

First the forged RATher memos.

Then fake allegations of wrongdoing against Delay...
(they have yet to show where a trip violated an ethics rule or law. BIG HINT- It did not. Neither did jobs that his wife got....since HE DID NOT GIVE HER THE JOB)

They took John Cornyn's comments our of context...(the very next sentence of the transcript, after the section that the news stops the sound bite on, shows that John said that the actions are not justified.....and that he is just concerned of the issue)

And now a fake Shiavo memo!

And the liberal media seems more than happy to be their Pravda like outlet.

We walked in the door tonight...just in time to see Channel 8 News in Dallas paint all four stories with the fake democrat charges. Almost as if they had coordinated the message with the DNC.

They are acting like Communist controlled media outlets. But instead of Stalin...its Dean that masters them.

And its sad.....Everybody on talk radio is already pointing out how fake the stories and allegations are turning out to be.

MSM is always behind the ball

And their lack of viewers and readers prove that .. they just refuse to open their eyes and see what is smacking them upside their head
