Indeed. I also have observed it isn't just "intelligece" that causes men to fail with women, but also a fixation with any of the following: firearms, pornography, explosives, video games, star trek (next generation), al gore, professional wrestling, and the 80's band Oingo Boingo.
"Do not talk about yourself at all"
Clearly, you didn't learn this in the Navy, least of all the flying Navy......
To expand on what you advise: It seems to me that the greatest skill to obtain is emotional control. This includes what you state. Don't be overly nice, yet don't be obnoxious. Don't come across as neutered, yet do not come across as oversexed(under-satisfied). Do not be overly interested, yet do not be insensitive. Have a sense of humopr but know that timing is also involved..blah...blah...blah
What also helps is to know what key traits you are looking for in a prospective mate before you go looking.
Chapter 2: Nice guys finish last
Chapter 3: Nice guys get to finish
Chapter 4: Nice guys get to play over and over
Chapter 5: Nice guys can be smart and nice
Chapter 6: Nice guys do not have to be nice all the time
etc., etc.
Well I fared well enough to find one to marry.
He's a genius, eh......
I've been told I am both smart and sexy, but since I quit drinking, I have had terrible success with meeting and dating women.
I see you are moving to Maryland....hmmm
Men who present themselves as nonsexual get treated as a nonsexual being by women. Anything more would be uncivilized.
Nam Vet
How did she know you meant jerks?....lol
There is truth in advertising - jerky guys will act jerky, and sometimes even violent. A shame that too many women mistake their traits as something desireable.

Whew! Was just lookin' for ya when I found this!
Anyway, you have FReepmail!
(btw, I'm one of the good guys)
I just happen to be associated with a fair-sized, mostly male group of high-IQ people. A few of them COULD learn a thing or two from this, but most actually are pretty normal. And it was a sufficiently interesting premise to be an amusing read.
Yep, kind of like meeting Data (from NG Star Trek)..."when is an appropriate time to begin coupling?"...
Well said. The threshold matter that a lot of men have to understand is that there is nothing sexually appealing about presenting themsleves as a nonsexual being.
A lot of terminally nice guys never get past that threshold matter.
Mostly the article is a load of BUNK!
It generalizes all smart men into helpless nerds.
1) Look, smart men will not have the patience to sit thru hours of some woman's emotional problems. He can get sex from anywhere, there is no profit in wasting his time here.
2) Smart men are atrracted to smart women...not the average chick from the article. The two smart people can have smart conversations. If there is only ONE smart person in a relationship, then he must go OUTSIDE the relationship for stimulating conversation.
3) It was a smart man who coined the phrase, "Why buy the cow, when you get the milk for free." Apparantly there are not that many smart women out there.
4) CONCLUSION: Smart men are confident men. I've never known a smart man who had trouble with women.
Yes, exactly. Nice guys fool themselves into thinking that women will be sexually thrilled by a sexually dull guy. Astonishing.
As far as TNG goes, I am more of a Babylon 5 man, myself! Though Data was always my fave TNG character!
So if I'm stupid, chicks will dig me? Or just stupid chicks?
It's only when single men begin showing up at Star Trek conventions dressed as a Klingon that there's a real need for concern. At that point, it may be necessary for family members/friends to call for an intervention and/or psychiatric services.
