This march is all nice and good. But I also do not trust islam.

President Reagan spoke with great wisdom when he said, "Trust but Verify."

Anyone can go to a march and carry a placard. When I see a muslim turn in a islamic cleric for storing weapons, or speaking of hate and murder, or passing out jihadist literature...THEN I will begin to trust.

When muslims turn in muslim terrorists (like they do in Iraq), THEN I will begin to trust.

When a muslim provides evidence to the FBI that a mosque is storing explosives, or starting a school that teaches only the koran, hate and murder...THEN I will begin to trust!

I have not seen these things happen. therefore, I do not trust islam. Sure, talk to me of peace, but I want to verify what you promise. Standing peacefully aside when the FBI conducts a surprise search of a mosque wild be a great start.

TRUST BUT VERIFY!

Are you saying that these mullahs are an Arab minority ruling over the majority population of non-Arab Persians?

"That was a huge block of obfuscation and moral relativism"

My wife always says I'm too long winded. My point made simply is that all the world's great religions have contradictions. Some more than others. Be careful not to judge the whole on the part.

Ma'salaama

A violent "Jew" is NOT following his faith.

Again, look up "zealot"

And Taoists make no rules between "violent means" and "non-violent means"

And to accept Buddhism fully, one DOES harm. They refuse meat for one thing. As well, an "extremist Buddist" would allow a communist regime to over run it and cast it's most prized thinker into exile.

Rolling over is just as dangerous as fighting in the first place. I agree with you on the part that Islam is being used to make violence happen, but I must draw the line when you state it has no moral equivilance.

All religions have/had fanatics. Instead of denouncing Islam as a whole, enlighten Muslims as a people. Bring them to the 21st century. And watch as the hatred you see in the Koran take a back seat to the real world. Don't attack the religion, educate the people.

I'm saying what I said. Without arab backing the Iranians would be Persians and the mullah's would be swinging from a crane. Ask Cyrus.

Hey Types With One Hand, as patently un-Christian as you are, it's seems unlikely that you're qualified to interpret someone else's holy text either. Why don't you go back to DU, since you obviously don't support Americans fighting alongside the Muslims sacrificing their lives in Iraq & Afghanistan to free their peoples.

Instead of popping off around here, I hear Eric Rudolph's looking for pen pals just like you. There now Noob, looks like you need to run along and put some more salve on that regina.

The march is in May? It'll be hot. These poor people will need water. Anybody got a spare gallon jug you can lend them?

I also support this march against terrorism and welcome Cyrus's views.

On the other hand, I would like to see an answer to this question also.
For those moderate muslims who don't support Islamic terrorism, fundamentalism, etc, how do they reconcile their views with what's written in the Koran and Hadiths? How do they explain away those many verses advocating violence? Do they say those passages are mistakenly included? Do they say those passages are outdated and don't apply to modern times? Do they say they have been mis-translated or perhaps abrogated by kindler, gentler messages?

I'm all for moderate muslims who support democracy, etc, but what will be their justification to themselves and other muslims for ignoring parts of their sacred texts?

I may be mistaken, but I believe that the God in Zoroastrianism is called Ahura Mazda. Its prophet was Zoroaster.

your question to moderate Muslims assumes their text-based faith that, if truly held, should react with indignation that non-believers' dare to interpret their text

perhaps it's your own text-based faith that shields you from the irony of tactlessly inquiring into the text of another when you could be contemplating the Old Testament

me? i just follow the gold-plated rule--give inhumane bigots a taste of their own medicine
