Oh, it's obvious where you're coming from. These people will have to answer for their actions at the Throne of God. The focus now is to make sure it doesn't happen again. I have confidence that things will work out. The Church has been in far worse situation.
Many have said that the selection of the name of a Pope is in conjunction with the preceeding Pope who had that name and that the new Pope will hold to many of his teachings. The only thing I can find for sure about Pope Benedict XV was that he was a great arbiter of peace during World War I and referred to all sides of the conflict as beligerants.
Tonight on MSNBC Michael Newdow bursts into flames!
It doesn't seem convoluted to me. Individual persons know the teaching and fail to live up to it. That's what sinners do and, yes, it has disasterous consequences for innocent victims.
Benedict XV beat out Mariano Rampolla del Tindaro, the candidate of the 1903 conclave who was blocked because of allegations of secret society membership.
Was Ratzinger sending a signal?
Charge every damn one of them with EEOC violations. Or ask in liue of that would they care to go out into the parking lot.
Thank you, MadIvan, as always.
This will be interesting. He could be a peacemaker of sorts within the Church if he unites the opposing elements. Ratzinger is the most likely to revert to Tradition. If so, a prophecy could be fulfilled if AmChurch schisms under Ratzinger's crackdowns. The challenge for the Church in America is grave.
I am cautiously optimistic. Chris Ferrara in Rome reported a conclave battle between the Ratzinger and Tettamanzi factions. He was right. I am relieved he won.
Interesting. Note the date. He received this aptly named award as the pope died.
"I read a chapter in Corintians that mentioned that liars, adulters and others who sin will not inherit the kingdom. Yet many evangelical churches say that salvation cannot be lost by sinning. Yet clearly the scripture is in conflict with the church on that one."
Correction: Yet clearly the scripture is in conflict with "evangelical" churches on that one.
The 111th St. Malachy prophesy is "Gloria Olivae" (The Glory of the Olive). The Order of Saint Benedict has claimed that this pope will come from their ranks. Saint Benedict himself prophesied that before the end of the world his Order, known also as the Olivetans, will triumphantly lead the Catholic Church in its fight against evil.
Will Pope Benedict XVI have an olive branch on his coat of arms, signifying a coming together of all factions in the Church.
I think "the Glory of the Olive" has been fulfilled.
Ye of little faith.
That is not true at all. World War I would have ended on its own had we stayed out. Wilson entering that war was the biggest mistake of the 20th century.
Ivan, all but two of the cardinals were chosen by John Paul II........they would not have abandoned him when choosing his successor.
He has given us bodies and a free will as part of His test for us. We can choose Him and attempt to overcome the passions of our bodies or we can reject Him and be controlled by our passions.
"I am cautiously optimistic."
That's a good way to describe how I feel too! He isn't a Traditionalist, but he certainly has proven to be the friend of Traditionalists on many occasions.
At least we now have a Pope who has celebrated the Tridentine Mass recently!
Well, partially true. Jesus is God, and He has a body.
No, it is entirely true that the stalemate would have continued had the U.S. Army not intervened in the Great War.
Sorry about your bishop! ;)
You are a soul. You have a body.
