Father arrested over objections to homosexual curriculum in son’s kindergarten class.

LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS, APRIL 27. Lexington parent, David Parker, was arrested today by the Lexington Police for “trespassing” at his son’s elementary school during a scheduled meeting with the principal and the city’s Director of Education over his objections to homosexual curriculum materials and discussions in his son’s kindergarten class.

At the meeting, Parker demanded that the school inform him when homosexual subjects are to be discussed with his son, and allow his son not to be included in such activities. He said he would not leave until his request was granted. The Principal and the city’s Director of Education both refused his request. They then telephoned the Superintendent of Schools who also refused. Police were called, who told Parker that unless he left the school he would be arrested.

Statement by David Parker(April 27, 2005):

“I, David Parker, am the father of a kindergarten student at Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts. Since the beginning of this school year, my wife and I have learned that school materials and discussions about gay-headed households/same-sex union issues have been exposed to the children. There are definitive plans to increase the teacher/staff/adult mediated discussions of these subjects.

“We have officially stated on many occasions—to the Lexington school administration—a request that we be notified when these discussions are planned, and want our 6-year-old opted out of such situations when arising “spontaneously”.

“Our parental requests for our own child were flat-out denied with no effort at accommodation. In our meeting on April 27, I, insisted that such accommodation be made and refused to leave the meeting room. I was informed that I would be arrested.”

Parker will be arraigned on Thursday, April 28, in Concord District Court at 9 am. “This is an unbelievable outrage,” said Brian Camenker, a friend and Newton, Mass. parent. “It’s where last year’s same-sex ‘marriage’ ruling has brought us.”

Why does this need to be discussed in a kindergarten class?

Because not all kindergartners have access to MTV.

This really should not surprise anyone. The American family, in general, has disintegrated to such a state and we, the people, have given the state the right to dictate what is to be taught to our children. We have not voted for this but apathetically accepted that they know what is best for our kids.
This is not to say that it is right. It isn't, but for YEARS the apathetic parents have relied on the public school system to raise their kids. Those of us who are active participants in our children's lives and educations should be and probably are aghast at the though of someone other than ourselves raising our kids.
It is time for someone to say enough. Like this guy did. The public schools do NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL US HOW TO RAISE OUR KIDS! WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL THEM HOW TO EDUCATE AND WHAT TO INSTRUCT OUR CHILDREN IN. However this is taking place in a REALLY BLUE STATE. I doubt that control can be taken back from the politicians.
I will pray for this man and his family.

You mean you never had this stuff in kindergarden? We used to discuss anal penetration and the joys of glory holes in between numbers and our naps... ( sarcasm lamp is lit )
This father has every right to not have his kid exposed to this crap. Its indroctrination pure and simple. I heard they make them watch episodes of Will and Grace instead of recess!

well i was under the assumption that the entire purpose of vouchers were to get away from the feds. They'd get paid back 10 fold in 20+ years when they start producing higher skilled workers

Misleading headline- he was arrested for trespassing.

He was arrested for the high crime of Contempt for the Almighty Master of the Peoples' Glorious Democratic Public School System.

'Trespassing' was just the excuse.

...higher skilled workers...

Don't need those since jobs requiring an education are being outsourced.

What amazes me in this entire episode is that we sit here and talk about this. We discuss it, we get upset and angry about it.

Can you imagine these people trying something of this nature when our Forefathers were agitating for revolution?

This entire school building would have been burned to the ground, the Principle along with the teachers would have been found hanging from trees the next morning.

Unfortunately, Mr. Parker, your neighbors do not agree with you.

This is what you get for living in MA. Your only logical and economical recourse is to leave the state.

Move to my state, Missouri.

Once fed money goes anywhere, then they ultimately have the ability to dictate what the money is used for. Fed money is the back door into private schools.

i guess it's time to cut the minimum wage then. By high skilled, i meant "doctor, lawyer, architect." Anything other than the burger flippers the government schools are producing now

during a scheduled meeting with the principal

I fail to see how it was trespassing if he had a scheduled meeting on public property! Seems to me that he was arrested under false charges!

I however would have left with my child after being asked to leave!

I guess parents rights are getting more and more ignored in todays age!

i see what you're saying, but a system like that would entirely defeat the purpose of a voucher program. I haven't heard much about florida's now that you mention it...
