moral hazard results from all humane government, but how is the moral hazard generated with respect to businesses likely to create worse consequences than that currently involving politicians and their ability to spend SS revenues?

I suppose "persuasive" means as in "persuade" as opposed to meaning "correct," come to think of it. Thus, I would have to listen to Bush to judge. Maybe if he was, then he was just effective in selling the incorrect ala a snake oil salesman. I will listen to the repeats on CSPAN in any event.

You do have an account -- it just doesn't have your money in it. But your bank account doesn't have your money in it, either -- that's been lent out by the bank. Of course, the bank has negotiable notes for the money lent out, while SS only has NON-negotiable notes.

I'm sorry! I was assuming you were an American. We pay 12.4% to the Social Security system. The employee contributes half, the employer contributes half. If you are self-employed like I am you pay both halves. In reality, even if you have an employer you are paying both halves because the money the employer is contributing is money that he is NOT paying you in wages.

Exactly.

The Private accounts offer us an ability to slowly transition out of this massive welfare we've become dependant on, and make money to boot.

That is the attraction. That is the only reason to temporarily address solvency. The other solution will cause more pain, but it's to let it's full failure become known when millions lose the retirement funds they counted on 20 years from this point because nothing was done.

I think Bush chose today for a formal Press Conference because today the Iraqi government formed its 265 member government (congress/parliamnent)...He follows the trend of supporting that fledging government on big occasions! Good man, our President! STAYING THE COURSE (see beeGees "staying alive" for reference)

Well, I think I understand your situation. But don't give up, and don't blame illegals for all of your problems.

You CAN make it, but you need to think outside the box. I see you support Pope Benedict, so I assume you are Catholic. Have you talked to your priest? In our city, the Church helps people find jobs. It's worth a try.

It is very discouraging when you are in a bad situation, but blaming others for fate and getting a sour attitude makes you less attractive to employers.

Persevere! You can make it, and you will feel so much better about yourself when you do!

A pay as you go welfare social safety net program, which is what SS really is, does not pose a moral hazard. A private account, which if it fails, and leaves the investor too poor, will cause the government to just give the investor his old benefits under the old system, is a tails the investor wins, heads the government (taxpayer) loses, proposition. That becomes the moral hazard.

I know just ask anyone that has a Thrift Savings Plan like my husband and I do, and they will say how great they are..

and the Thrift plan is what Bush wants to use as model for personal accounts...I know if my kids had the chance I would tell them to definitely go for it....

The president holding a news conference with the White House Press Core is like being on a thread by myself with thirty trolls and the zot button is broken.

They mentioned over and over about polls (most if not all taken by liberals) the say America thinks you stink Mr. President, would you like to comment on that?

The only way the Democrats will be able to receive anything on the presidents agenda is to roll it up real tight and shove it up their collective a$$es.

Hannity asked that hack Congressman Smith what the Democrats plan was to fix S.S. and he said they didn't have a plan, yup! just like everything else no plan required just obstruct obstruct obstruct.

It is time to start playing hard ball with these losers.

Because most folks I think disagree with you, and find what I have to say of interest, even if they often disagree with it. Maybe you could get FR to do a poll on it. :)

I hope that helps.

The kicker is that it's voluntary. I've yet to hear anyone on this board, in the press, or a politician persuasively make a case as to why I shouldn't have a choice in what is done with my money.

Why this need to control my life? Yours? I'm not seeking to control another's by demanding they participate. I resent anyone trying to control mine.
