Michelle Malkin: The Wonkette-ization of Laura Bush
Michelle Malkin ^ | May 3, 2005 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 05/03/2005 2:10:11 PM PDT by EveningStar

Most of Mrs. Bush's humor at the correspondents' dinner was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But I think the stripper and horse jokes were totally beneath her.

Just put it to the other-shoe test: If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes, the conservative commentariat would be buzzing for the rest of the year about what a tasteless skank she is.

The Taliban believes in rigid control of women. So do the radical extremists on the right. They were offended that Laura even got UP to talk. At all. Little Woman should have just stayed in her seat and smiled. And oh how convenient it was to lump anyone who didn't agree with you into that group. You just did the same things to Christians....they should sit down and shut up and stop disagreeing with you. No one in this thread was upset that Laura even got up to talk. You directed your venom at the wrong damn people if this was your reason. I'm thinking it's more backpeddling.

#3. I think MOST of the people pretending to be outraged at the First Lady's jokes are NOT what they say they are.

I guess we should be expecting that check from Soros then right?

of course I am not outraged.
just disappointed and surprised.
guess we all ought to spend more time trying to milk the horses.

right?

LOL.

I can't tell you how many people are saying this lately. It's not helping the party, is it?

Turning good folks away from the party. They don't move to the democrats but they don't support the republicans either.

We needed those new folks who fled the left.

Good to see you, F16. Haven't seen you around for quite a while. This thread isn't going to improve your mood anymore than it has mine.

I'll ask you, too, then: Do you think I can corner the market on buquas when the impending Taliban takeover of FR comes to pass?

Republican base

You're a Republican? Seriously? Guess maybe I'm mistaking you for someone else. If so, I'm sorry in advance.

I don't want Christians to shut up.

But having talked to a gazillion of them in real life, not the faux pretenders on the internet, not one of them was upset with the jokes.

What I would like, but will never have, given the nature of the internet, is for people to fully understand that we can say we are anything on the internet. But it doesn't mean that's what we are.

For example, the book for which Jim RObinson wrote the foreward, Hillary's Secret War, details how the left comes to sites like this one and pretends to be Christian or conservative but in reality they are paid opinion shapers.

They cause dissent among the good conservatives who have been here for years. And lead the more naive among us.

Since I've talked to people in real life, most of whom are Baptist, and they didn't have a problem with the First Lady's jokes, then I'm assuming that most of these people on here aren't what they are professing to be.

Oh, I know now that I'll see a bunch of posts professing they they are "real" and they are "concerned". But, it's the internet. I'm Queen Elizabeth.

The Democrat vermin got a taste of what is to come from Laura Bush. Let's face it, the liberal scum that call themselves Democrats would have Americans believe that all Republicans are prudes, right-wing fanatics, religious zealots, or greedy, grubby corporate types. Fact of the matter is the most Republicans are regular folks who participate in the contemporary American scene across the board.

GW Bush was a wild boy in his day, and I suspect some of that wildness attracted Laura Bush to him. He was no different that millions of other young lads who loved to booze and party. Rush Limbaugh was the same kind of guy. And....for that matter so is Sean Hannity.

My point is that I'd rather be partying with GW Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Laura Bush, Sean Hannity, etc. than Democrat bores like Al Gore, Al Franken, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, George Soros, Michael Kinsley, Maureen Dowd, etc. It is high time the American people tell and truly see things the way they really are. Republicans are cool!!! It's the Democrat party that has lost it's way, and it's sense of humor.

Laura, you did real good, and screw these narrow minded Freepers on this site that can't see or think beyond their noses!! Bravo!

You'd swear some of these posters were Mary Poppins with PMS and jock itch.

BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Whew, I feel better now. I just had to get to that part first, hee hee. :)

I think your theory has quite a lot of merit, actually. I feel quite dumb for not thinking of it, myself. I've said it before that it's very easy to say something on the Internet that you would never say to someone face-to-face. This type of medium is bound to attract those that enjoy throwing verbal Molotov cocktails to try and make others as miserable as they are. I've seen that kind of behavior on other discussion forums that are well-known but not political.

In some cases, I think it's simply a pathological need for attention. BTW, I am not directing that to any particular poster here...it's just something I see all over the internet, and I'm really sad to see FR isn't immune, either, much as I may wish it were. :(

The horse joke was about not being able to tell the difference between a HORSE and a COW, not an udder and a penis.

"But I'm proud of George. He has learned a lot about ranching, since that first year when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse it was a male horse."

Sorry, it was a joke about a penis, not an udder.

Oh, I'm not going anywhere. This is just the usual spring jousting for herd precedence before everybody comes together to take on the Socialists, Marxists, and those dingbats at Moveon.org.

It really is a big tent. There's room for both heathens and zealots in this here GOP.
