Most of Mrs. Bush's humor at the correspondents' dinner was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But I think the stripper and horse jokes were totally beneath her.

Just put it to the other-shoe test: If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes, the conservative commentariat would be buzzing for the rest of the year about what a tasteless skank she is.

I'm not convinced they even made up 2.5% of the vote though. I suppose it wouldn't hurt if someone commissioned a study to find just how integral they are to the RNC. We know how large the extremist faction in the DNC is.

My problem is with those that wish to make this a national disgrace. Those that believe the first lady is 'white trash'.

I challenge you to find anyone on this board with this opinion. Maybe you can find one or two (I haven't seen any).

In reality...the vast majority love Laura. They just didn't like the comments. Saying they feel it's a national disgrace is hyperbole. And they certainly don't deserve to be equated with the Taliban. Ridiculous.

Maybe I missed some of the comments on those threads. On the threads I've seen the majority is just saying they disliked a couple comments. The vitriol seems to be coming from those who say these people are like the Taliban.

People who consider themselves the uber "christian" and proud of it sometimes don't realize they come across as the moonies we used to have to jump hoops to avoid in San Francisco... "But We Love You!". Meaning; they come across as "cult" members. And regardless of how many scriptures they can cite. Or the "guilting" ploys they use in posts. lol.
