China warns Japan against using Taiwan as political card

Sunday, May 8, 2005 at 00:16 JST

BEIJING — Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan on Saturday expressed strong concern over Japan's recent actions and comments over Taiwan, and warned Tokyo not to use the island as a "political card" against Beijing, a Japanese lawmaker said.

Taku Yamasaki, a legislator and special adviser to Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, told a press conference Tang made the comments in a meeting with him in the Chinese capital. Tang in particular expressed displeasure over Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura's remarks last week in New York describing Taiwan as being within the scope of the Japan-U.S. joint security treaty, Yamasaki said. When I see China, it reminds me of France, a country with a huge but bruised ego, dwelling in the overblown sense of grandeur. The difference is that China is willing to shed enormous amount of blood and wealth to reach the all-powerful hegemon of the world, while France would not.

I dont know if Japan is using Taiwan as a political card or bot. What I do know is ,if they are its because the Chinese set themselves up for it to be played every time they open their mouths.

China is in full-swing fascism now. They're pretty sure that the Chinese race is the bees' knees. All you have to do is ask one of the more anti-American Chinese from Canada living here in America who's the greatest. Of course they don't mind the American salaries.

When I see China...it reminds me of Germany in the late 1930's. Huge economy, building, building, building. A rapidly increasing and modernizing military...all headed for war.

That appears to be the case. This melodramatic statement from yesterday seems to be of the same ilk: Li also warned Japan to stay out of the Taiwan issue after Tokyo and Washington declared the island, which China considers part of its territory, part of their shared security concern. "I would like to say calmly to Japan: The Taiwan issue is a domestic affair and a matter of life or death to us. It is dangerous to touch China's matter of life or death," Li was quoted as saying by the Japanese official. ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1398729/posts)
