Jennifer Wilbanks, the runaway bride whose disappearance triggered a nationwide search, has entered a voluntary medical treatment program.
According to a statement from the family's church, "Ms. Wilbanks entered a highly regarded, inpatient treatment program on her own volition to address physical and mental issues which, she believes, played a major role in her 'running from herself' as she described in a public statement last week."
Wilbanks entered the program late Monday. The location of the program and suggested duration of treatment was not disclosed.
Wilbanks was already undergoing professional treatment. On May 5, the pastor for the Wilbanks family, Dr. Tom Smiley, read a statement from Jennifer Wilbanks. In the statement, Wilbanks said she, "started professional treatment voluntarily," for the problems that led her to run away.
Dr. Smiley said the treatment was "professional therapy with certified, competent professionals." Smiley did not go into details about the treatment.
Wilbanks, 32, touched off an extensive search in April when she disappeared after leaving her Duluth, Ga., home for a jog just four days before her scheduled wedding.
Wilbanks turned up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She told police she had been abducted, but she later told authorities she took a bus to Las Vegas and then Albuquerque on her own.
She looks anorexic to me. Coupled with being a fanatic jogger I'd say she has control issues.
I'm sure she's thankful that her pastor has agreed to be spokesman. She's probably humiliated and scared of what's going to happen next.
and may I add a Christian all of the time. Even us Christains make mistakes, but we ask God's help daily. I would think you would want to have such compassion if you were in the Wilbanks family or even her pastor. I see true christianity in this whole situation. She has a man who loves her and does not run. She has family who is supportive and loving her unconditionally.
If you need that one day... I hope you will find that in your family and friends.

Not to mention her either unwillingness to make a public statement and apology, or her being forbidden from doing such by her clearly over controlling pastor.

The only bright spot I see from her criminal trail is that when she submitted to the rape exam and filed a false report of being raped is that she didn't finger someone as the rapist.
Had she done that, my comments on her would be far more harsh.
Your "knowledge" of Southern Baptists is seriously lacking. Maybe the Southern Baptists in your head are like that, but I doubt you have encountered many (if any) like that in real life.

Oh well.. you know what the Bible says.. pray for those who prosecute you. I suppose Pantom Lord thinks he is Judge and Jury.... but I know different. My Judge will be much more real than an internet blogger.

I am not Southern Baptist, but my Baptist Church has our jewish Church come over for interchanging services. We welcome them with open arms, much like we do the homeless, sick childrens clinic, others who just need love and acceptance.
