Solving the Icky Man Problem in the Government By E.F. Winslow Posted 5-13-2005

This week in Washington, Ellen Malcolm, the president and founder of the pro-abortion group Emily’s List, elucidated on how to save the United States government from on-going political wrangling and lower the level of mean-spirited rhetoric that has become all too common in the capitol. The answer? Simply elect more women. Malcolm believes more female politicians will end the "nasty tone" and "horrible partisan atmosphere" in Washington.

“One of the things that I appreciate is that when you elect more women, the tone gets more reasonable, the women figure out ways to get together, find more compromise," she told Cybercast News Service. "I think we could use that kind of leadership in a big dose right now."

This sentiment, of course, was clearly exemplified by the behavior of Sen. Barbara Boxer (D. CA) during the Senate Confirmation hearings for Condoleeza Rice last month.

She might have a point, if you look at Boxer, Pelosi, Hitlery, et al as fine examples. NOT

Baloney. Women are not more resistant to corruption, power struggles, and absolute power struggles than men are.

I've been searching for the famous picture of Rachel Corrie calmly expressing her hatred of Jews. Can't seen to locate it. I imagine the Democrats would be eager to vote for her, if they could.

If there is any more poignant a rebuttal to Ms. Malcolm than that chimeysweep Barbara Boxer, I cannot imagine what it would be. Not a civil or kind though seems ever to come out of her dusty head.

If Emily's List is in favor of more women, they should start with Janice Rogers Brown and Priscilla Owens!

She needs to point to a study done during the Clinton years that no female ever elected voted for freedom or indiviual rights.

Since women have entered the government - has it gotten better?

Have we solved a single problem - cut on cost, saved a single more lives?

Maybe the Greeks and the Romans were right, they lasted several hundreds of years without women in their government and we seem to be lost in our short years.

I have a one-word reply to that assinine assertion: Hilliary!

Christine Gregoire comes to mind.

Strange to keep hearing this trope. All the great women of history from Empress Theodora to Queen Elizabeth to Empress Catherine to the Dowager Empress Tzu-Hsi to Baroness Thatcher all had fists of iron as hard as any man's.

DC needs an immediate boob reduction. Look how many fewer parking places we'd need for broomsticks.

If Emily's List is in favor of more women....

They're not, just certain kinds (i.e., liberal) women.

Men that say women get along have never been married. I can tell you from experience, women are worse then men and someone once said - it might be nicer except you can expect a war every 28 days.
