Speech by Pepsico President (spreading anti-American views? America as "middle finger" to the world)
Pepsico ^ | May 18, 2005 | Indra Nooyi

Pepsico has now released a copy of the speech from the Columbia Business School greaduation. (This is the speech by their president, Indra Nooyi, which some have claimed to be straongly anti-American.)

For those of you who haven't been following this in the last few days, the good folks at Powerline have been all over it.

At least Mexican Coke has real cane sugar rather than that horrendous corn syrup.

The speech is pitifully boneheaded politically, and insultingly condescending to boot. Nooyi is a moral preener in the great liberal tradition, a fool who thinks her own poop doesn't stink, whether deposited through a hole in a Chinese floor or in an American commode at Pepsi headquarters.

I was travelling through Europe in the summer of 1992. I went to Rome from Wiesbaden on a train. When my buddy and I arrived at Rome, I went into one of the station's huge restrooms. I was dumbfounded that the toilets were simply holes in the floor - all lined up, no dividers between them. Needless to say, I waited until I got to the hotel. Rome, in 1992!!

Try Paris, France, 2005. We stopped at a bar and went downstairs to use the bathroom. Yes, it was a hole in the floor. I, too, waited until I got back to the hotel.

Oh really?

Do they crash planes into buildings?

Do they cut the heads of those they consider 'infidels'?

The thumb is by far the most important digit, with the index finger being second.

She was either trying to be cute and imply the US is giving the middle finger to the world, or she is an idiot who is lucky to be in her position only because she lives in a country where women of her ethnicity are judged the same as everybody else.

Seems like America-loathing to me!

Nonsense. I have traveled all over the world for decades and from my experience Americans are the best tourists out there.

Must be a personal problem on your part.

What's wrong with it is the overt anti-Americanism, the "enlightened" Europe reference, etc.

That's not to mention that her audience was supposed to be primarily the MBAs. She could have kicked up the
intellectualism a tad.

In any case, I try to avoid Pepsico products until she is gone from the company. And the bozo(s) that put her there.

I can boycott Pepsi, but I really can't give up Taco Bell.

Europe is not a superpower. To me, it's like being a Christian or a conservative. We are called to a higher standard. Doesn't matter what anyone else does. It only matters what we do.

Bush wants to democratize the world. He is right, but he needs help from the rest of us.

FruitWorks juice drinks
Aquafina purified drinking water
Frappuccino ready-to-drink coffee (Partnership)
Starbucks DoubleShot (Partnership)

SoBe energy drinks (No Fear and Adrenaline Rush)

The place to apply pressure is the partnerships.
Starbucks would be the logical target.

Nooyi is what is commonly referred to as an "affirmative action hire". (Pepsico is just so-o-o-o-o progressive, eh?)

I'm not sure whether this speech is anti-American enough to warrant a boycott -- I guess that's up to each individual. We report, you decide!
