"Fox News said Bush is going to be talking about his energy policy, CAFTA, social security reform, and fighting the budget deficit."

Oh, how exciting...Yawn!!!

The man has got to do better than talk.

President Bush: I'd like to congratulate Germany for getting unemployment below 12 percent.

Guess that European Union won't be around long enough to join the Axis of Evil.

Condi is moving to VP, John Bolton is our new SecState

We've sprinkled radioactive dust on the border with Mexico so we can see where all the illegal aliens go. We give the info to the ACLU so they can dispatch lawyers.

I appreciate your point, but I'm not sure how effective any pressure from our side will be on the Senate -- when they have the Dems and media applying pressure from the other side. And as I understand it support for Bolton was pretty wafer-thin anyway, and I really, really want to see him in there. (Too bad FR doesn't have the final vote! LOL!)

While you're around, though, I'd like to take advantage of your expertise (and your patience). A number of people have suggested that Frist use the carrot-and-stick on recalcitrant senators. To what extent does he have the power to do this? Aren't the rules determined by party, so Dems and Reps have different rules? I know Republicans have term limits for committee chairman -- there was some discussion re Specter on Judiciary. Are chairmanships strictly by seniority (would be odd in the Reps -- makes the senate operate by union rules)?

Well, in short, what powers does Frist have that he can apply against Senators?

I'm through with these senate pubs for now. I'll wait patiently for the next elections to boot the hell outta of those RINOS from office!! Nothing we can do now but hold on tight! Why am I mad, because they have ignored our emails, phone calls and votes. We are dirt to them. Time quickly flies by and they'll be up for reelection soon, begging us to volunteer and help financially, that's when I will get my revenge by denying them any sort of help,..NOT A DIME,...ZILCH, ZERO, NADA, ZIPPO!! I'll be supporting the conservative challenger, running against them!

Ratings are lowest of his Presidency, SS reform losing steam and the Senate going maverick.

He was elected on a tidal wave against the redefining of marriage and he squandered his political capital on SS. If he were to announce we're building a 40 foot wall on the border, he could get a 70% approval rating, but for some reason, I don't think he's going to do it ...

I am so sick of his mealy-mouthed don't say nuthin' talk. The thing I liked best about him was he was a straight talker. Now he's just like the rest.

While you're around, though ...

I'm in shape. "Round" is a shape, isn't it?

... what powers does Frist have that he can apply against Senators?

I don't know, for sure. I don't know how the party assigns Committe chair positions, except that seniority has a large part to play in that. But chairs are not set strictly by seniority - even though seniority is one of the more influential factors.

There is political pressure from constituents too. You know, "We the People?" The failure to handle nominations is a big deal, and the fight needs to occur.

I do wonder if a president has ever recess appointed a nominee who was REJECTED by the Senate. Talk about a poke in the eye!

I saw something in one of the papers today to the effect that Dems intend to use the delay to pick off more Reps from supporting Bolton. I'd rather see a recess appointment (and some Dutch uncle talk) for Bolton.

And I saw an article stating VP Cheney is confident Bolton will be confirmed. Who to believe, who to believe? :-)

I'd rather see the heat on the Senate, than on the President. It is the Senate who is having a problem, and if he takes the issue away from them, they won't have the pressure to fix the institutionalized mishandling of nominations.

Amen to that!

Hey, you're back! Take good notes...no TV today.

I am hoping this will be carried on local new/talk radio.

He has signed legislation that has outlawed the mullah regime of Iran forever. . . . the bombing starts in 5 mins.

It would be such fun to watch the MSM suffer collective apoplexy again.
