Elder Bush Would like Son Jeb to Run for President

George Bush, the president's father, would like to see another Bush in the White House someday, saying on Tuesday that he would want his son Jeb to run for president when the timing is right.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush has repeatedly said he does not plan to run for president in 2008, trying to dampen speculation that another Bush could be on the next Republican ticket for the White House.

In an interview on CNN's "Larry King Live," former President Bush said he would want Jeb to run for president "someday," but now was not the time.

"The timing's wrong. The main thing is, he doesn't want to do it. Nobody believes that," Bush said.

But he and wife Barbara both said they believed Jeb, 52, did not want to run in the next presidential race.

Bush said he did not have a favorite candidate for the Republican nomination to succeed his son, President Bush.

Barbara Bush said she believed Senator and former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton would be the Democratic nominee in the 2008 presidential race. "I'm not going to vote for her, but I'm betting on her," she said.

I like Jeb, too. He just needs to sit it out about 8 years.

48% of voters, certainly not of Americans, voted for the left, because a portion of this country wants government cks, on the backs of higher taxes hard working men and women, not a debt free nation.

Bush is asking the Congress to debate SS, which they have not done yet, if Congress wants even a debate on different ideas to "tank", as you do, then let them face the voters.

The left promoted no ideas with Kerry, just hate, and conspirazoid fear mongering, which has been their M.O for 30 years.

You need a new play book.

At this point, we have weak candidates running for President in 2008. Hillary! will win the presidency. The only strong candidate that we have is Jeb but his last name is Bush. It will take 4 to 8 years for him to become electable again.

Arghhh! Surely there is a Republican governor out there who could win. Good grief! Pair a strong Republican governor with Condi and we should have it!

I hope so too. We still have a lot of time before the next election. But think about this. Republicans have won the Presidency in the last five out of seven elections. The American sheeple will be tired of having Republicans in charge and will opt for something "different".

If Hillary! runs (which I believe she will) women will vote for her in states such as Florida, Iowa, Arkanasas, and New Mexico. That will be enough for her to win the Presidency.

We have to do something before it's too late.

Agreed, except at this point the Republicans are fat and happy on pork.

If that is what they are, then they deserve to lose and I am totally disgusted. I hope you are wrong.

Me too, but I am not encouraged. Republicans have been in power too long and they are not really getting things done lately.

What happened to Social Security reform? What happened to using the nuclear option?

The only accomplishment that I can name Republicans doing so far this year is bankrupty bill.

A big whoop!

Didn't they pass Torte Reform? The President is pushing the Social Security reform. If the Republicans don't back him I am really going to be angry.

However, he has got to do something about guarding the borders.

I want Senator Frist to go ahead and use the Nuclear Option if the Democrats try to filibuster again. We better start acting like the majority party while we still are doggone it!

Hmm, I forgot about that.

I don't think Republicans will back Bush up with Social Secruity Reform. They do not have "balls" to do so.

However, he has got to do something about guarding the borders.

Agreed, this is President Bush's greatest weakness. I have nothing against legal immigration. Just make sure that the illegals do not squeeze through our borders, that's all.

Frist does not have the votes to do so thanks to seven Republicans led by "Maverick" McVain.

I thought that McCain said that if the Democrats tried to filibuster, the Republicans would use the Nuclear Option?

What has happened to the Republicans? I just don't understand it. I have heard Harry Reid complain that the minority party has rights and that the President can't just run over them, etc. How come? I bet if the Democrats were in power and had a majority, we would not hear anything about the Republicans having any rights.

Believe me, we would have used the Nuclear Option a long time ago, if that was the case. The Democrats won't allow Bolton to get a vote even though that was not part of the compromise.

Yep. We are playing "nice" while the Democrats are playing for keeps. RINOs do not understand this.

Republicans in the Senate are weak, period.

Well, how do we get the Republicans in the Senate to get moving on things and act like they give a rip?

For now, we just have to hope for the best in the next year and half. Most likely, nothing will get done.

Then in 2006, we have to make sure that we are running CONSERVATIVES in races against the Democrats.

With the traitorious Seven Dwarfs, we need to run CONSERVATIVES against them in the next primary. But I know McVain has nothing to worry about until 2010, I believe so we're out of luck with him.
