Elder Bush Would like Son Jeb to Run for President

George Bush, the president's father, would like to see another Bush in the White House someday, saying on Tuesday that he would want his son Jeb to run for president when the timing is right.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush has repeatedly said he does not plan to run for president in 2008, trying to dampen speculation that another Bush could be on the next Republican ticket for the White House.

In an interview on CNN's "Larry King Live," former President Bush said he would want Jeb to run for president "someday," but now was not the time.

"The timing's wrong. The main thing is, he doesn't want to do it. Nobody believes that," Bush said.

But he and wife Barbara both said they believed Jeb, 52, did not want to run in the next presidential race.

Bush said he did not have a favorite candidate for the Republican nomination to succeed his son, President Bush.

Barbara Bush said she believed Senator and former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton would be the Democratic nominee in the 2008 presidential race. "I'm not going to vote for her, but I'm betting on her," she said.

Enough with the Constitutional amendments. Amendments limiting the presidency are undemocratic. If the people want a foreign born president or want a president to serve more than two terms, then it's their choice.

George W. Bush '08
REPEAL THE AMENDMENT THAT PROHIBITS A THIRD TERM!

Frankly, having lived through 3 Bush administrations and been major league underwhelmed with both of them, I have lost the ability to get excited about yet another Bush republican.

Ya mean it wouldn't be fair?

No, I mean that it would be stupid to fixate on name recognition. There is much talent out there and a system which no longer even seems to seek it out is nothing more then just plain broken.

Too much power concentrated in too few hands is never a good idea for a democracy.

Jeb's just another open borders sovereignty sellout. He is not fit for the office.

In all fairness to the Bush family. "W" has turned out better than I thought he would. I figure I'm a pretty hard guy to satisfy.
I bet a lot of you wince too when you perceive he is about to make mistakes like his father.

They have chosen, and they have chosen to limit those terms and to restrain foreign nationals. That is the people's will, whether you chose to like it, or not.

Um...yes. Two languages, in fact.

Um....I believe that President Bush (43) can speak two languages and you can see how much credit he gets from the Lame Stream Media for being bilingual.

About 7PM EST...give or take an hour or two.

It's pretty common knowledge in Houston that Babs and George H.W. have always called Jeb "the smart one" and they expected him to be president someday. Not "W".

Personally, I was all for Jeb Bush. But it turns out that Jeb Bush is the kind of person that sees a child drowning in the lake but won't jump in to save the kid because a judge has put up a "no swimming" sign. Jeb would point to the sign and say "sorry, but my hands are tied".

And who was it that suggested Laura Bush should run? Lynn Cheney? That's a joke. Speaking of "jokes", have you heard the one about the president accidently milking...........

I'm tired of the whole lot of them. The creepy Clinton's, the Bush family, John McCain, etc, etc. I'd appreciate it if they'd just close Washington for a few years. We'd be better off.

I'd vote for him just to watch the left implode. Be worth a lot of laughs!

"There is much talent out there and a system which no longer even seems to seek it out is nothing more then just plain broken."

I agree with you there. But many of the talented are hesitant because they are afraid of getting eaten alive by the media. If the candidates are out there, then it may end up being up to us - the Net and the bloggers to ferret them out and help them along.

I grew up in "politics." My dad was involved most of his life - but he just wanted to do the work and he told me once, "Don't EVER call me a politician!"

Your expectations were much lower then mine. I had expected, that as a Republican, he would have been a conservative rather then a socialist.

They haven't chosen directly. If I'm not mistaken, the amendment was ratified by state legislatures and not referenda.

I'm hoping that for my birthday my wife will get me a Tancredo for President bumper sticker. I don't know that he could win, but if I had the bumper sticker maybe he could.

Enough Doles. Enough Bushes. The whole pack of them has never read the Federalist Papers or the Constitution. Same old crap, generation after generation.

Broom 'em. Time to really shake up this Big Stupid Government before it's too late to turn back.
