ROBERT (THE KLEAGLE) BYRD MAY HAVE MET HIS MATCH
Federal Review ^ | 06/08/2005 | marblehead17

Byrd has won every election by a landslide, but it appears he may have his work cut out for him. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito could give him a run for his money. Current polls give Byrd 46% and Capito 43%. The beauty of this is Capito has not announced a run for Byrd's seat. Byrd is so desperate that he has Sen. Obama raising money for him. Irony? Rep. Shelley Moore Capito

Is she related to Gov Arch Moore? As I recall, he was quite popular with Mountaineers.

By placing the Rebel flag on Byrd's Klan Suit, you are making a false assumption, namely, that the Rebel Flag is racist, when everyone knows it is not racist.

Want to place any bets on wether or not "Sheets" Byrd carried that flag when he was burning crosses in WV?

I'm doubting that carrying a rebel flag would have had an effect in West Virginia, especially considering that they were disloyal during the 1861-1865 conflagaraton.

The Klan wasn't especially particular about historical continunity.

Many Confederate Vets married young the second time around....The Library of Virginia has an online database of applications of Veterans and Widows pensions.

Lots of personal detail--careful though! you may find a deserter or 2.

My great-great grandparents lived a long and happy life together. Her father died during the initial assault on Petersburg (Confederate) and his father was a staunch Unionist who smuggled blacks, Union soldiers and confederate deserters behind enemy lines.

They had quite a network set up. Although I have not yet run across her name, I would not be surprised if this was part of "Crazy Bet's" operation.

My family got over it...but then again, they weren't using it for power.

I was a bit taken aback when I saw the flag on the klan robe. Yes, the Klan put it there...I understand. But as someone who has a rich, southern heritage I am tired of being the nation's perpetual "bad seed."

Ford will win easily because he is a very conservative Dem

I only know what little I have seen of Rep Ford, does NOT come across as VERY CONSERVATIVE.

Please enlighten me with his position on abortion, the Iraq War, Social Security, the Marriage Amendment, Abu Gharib and Immigration........thanks.
