The Islamic Identity

Firstly, it is necessary to define what is meant by the term "Islamic identity" . The Islamic Identity is taken to mean the way of life of the Muslim - an all-encompassing set of beliefs, practices and ideologies as derived from the Qur'an and the example of Muhammad (s.a.w). The Islamic identity is that which separates us from the Kuffar.

Education

The educat ion system is typically where the indoctrination process begins. Muslim school children are sent off by their parents to Kafir schools with good intentions of an education and a chance at a better life (in this world, at least). The children are placed in an environment where the mixing of sexes is not only tolerated but encouraged through the placement of children in multi-gender sporting teams and class groups. These children grow up to believe such behaviour is normal. This leads, in most cases, to the m passing off the Islamic requirement of segregated sexes as 'old fashioned' or 'backward'. After years in an environment as free as this, it is no surprise that we see so many young Muslims with 'boyfriends', and 'girlfriends'.

A major component of the education system is to turn the students into 'good Australians'. To be a good Australian means to obey the laws of the land even if they conflict with the laws of Allah (s.w.t). We see this from the earliest stages of the child's education in the form of flag-raising ceremonies each morning in which the children sing the national anthem and stand in respect as the flag of the non-Muslims is raised over their heads.

In later stages, the indoctrination becomes more advanced through subjects such as politics and legal studies. In these studies, the 'benefits' of western-style democracy and the Westminister system of government are taught. The children are taught that S hirk is the best form of government. They are taught that being a "good citizen" is about voting and participation in this Shirk-based system. By the time the child passes through the digestive tract of the Kaffir educational system, he or she will probably see him/herself as an Australian first and a Muslim second. The effect on the Islamic identity is that it is replaced with, in best case scenarios, a watered-down Islamic identity, and in the extreme case, a total Kaffir identity.

Every subject taught to the Muslim has a hidden agenda - to foster disbelief and moral decline. In Human Education, our children are being taught that being promiscuous is a 'natural part of growing up'. These enemies of Allah are even equipping our children with contraceptive devices, under our noses, giving them their tacit approval to commit adultery. These same classes teach that homosexuality is something that 'cannot be helped' and as such is a perfectly 'normal' kind of behaviour...read more

THE transcript of what our Grand Mufti really said in a mosque last month doesn't just prove he's an extremist who urges even children to die in a jihad.

It also proves that he and his chief spokesman cannot be trusted to tell us the truth about what he's up to.
And, by the way, it proves how wrong the Bracks Government was to pass laws against free speech, which are being used now against two Christian pastors who tried to warn us that Islam permits people like the Mufti, Sheik Taj El-Din El-Hilali, to lie for his cause.

Last month I reported how Hilali, our most senior Islamic cleric, had been heard on a visit to Lebanon again calling for jihad, again endorsing suicide bombers and again praising the Hezbollah terrorist group.

But Hilali and his spokesman, Keysar Trad of the Lebanese Muslim Association, claimed he'd been the victim of yet another misunderstanding.

Trad said the Sheik's remarks had been "taken out of context", and his sermon in a Lebanese mosque did not endorse jihad, killings or suicide bombings at all.

"It was not a call to arms," Trad said. "He's not saying 'go ahead and do this'."

Trad also sent me e-mails claiming he had proof that the "Mufty (sic) did not say the comments attributed to him", and that I should "brave a correction".

Meanwhile, the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, which in 1988 made Hilali the Mufti to help him avoid being expelled for his extremism, said he "did not hold such radical views", being "a very moderate Islamic leader".

And Hilali himself told SBS radio he hadn't supported jihad, or tried to incite hatred of the West.

SO people who'd prefer to think our Mufti is a man of peace and truth will be shocked to read the transcript of his sermon at the Sidon Mosque on February 13, in an official translation arranged by our Embassy in Lebanon.

Hilali began by telling "this blessed gathering at this mosque, the mosque of jihad and manhood" that his topic was the "true meaning of manhood".

"Brothers of Islam, there is a war of infidels taking place that requires real men and strong positions that prove our manhood towards God," he thundered.

"How many Palestinian women are being imprisoned by Zionists in Israel? How many women were raped in Bosnia, Herzogovina and Chechnya? Where are the real men?"

Where? The real men were in Hezbollah, he said, and real men were now needed to "answer the call of Jerusalem" -- and "those who care for their living more than they do for he who gives life are not real men".

"Children and mothers are crying: Sons of Islam, there is a war of infidels taking place everywhere.

"The true man is the boy who opposes Israeli tanks with strength and faith. The boy who, despite his mother's objections, goes out to war to become a martyr like his elder brother. The boy who tells his mother . . .'Oh, mother, jihad has been imposed on me and I want to become a martyr'."

(Remember: "martyr" is widely held to be someone who dies fighting for Islam, and not least those who die in suicide attacks.)

WHAT'S more, Hilali said, "perhaps we will find one day an Islamic revolution, and Islamic ideology in Western countries. Don't be surprised if one day you hear the muezzin calling for prayer and saying, 'Allah is great' from the top of the White House."

Referring to the al-Qaida attack on the United States that killed some 3000 civilians, Hilali declared: "September 11 is God's work against oppressors.

"Some of the things that happen in the world cannot be explained. A civilian airplane whose secrets cannot be explained -- if we ask its pilot who reached his objective without error, who led your steps? If we ask the giant that fell, who humiliated you? Or if we ask the President, who made you cry? God is the answer."

Islam was advancing everywhere, Hilali said.

"I'm telling you that there are no English Korans left in Australia or America or Europe. Everyone is converting to Islam -- soldiers, pilots, engineers . . . Those who are spending money to stop the ways of God will spend their money but will be defeated eventually."

This is what the Mufti preaches in Arabic, just as he was once filmed in his Lakemba mosque calling suicide bombers "heroes".

And this is the man and there is his spokesman who told us, in English, that, no, the Mufti hadn't praised jihad, hadn't endorsed suicide bombers, hadn't called for blood and martyrs.

Hilali's tirade demands answers to questions I've repeatedly asked here, despite threats and abuse.

Why do no moderate Islamic leaders openly reject Hilali and his preaching?

Why did our Federation of Islamic Communities make this man our Mufti, so betraying moderate Muslims? Why did the Hawke and Keating governments not only fail to deport Hilali, despite his extremism, but make him a citizen?

Can we hope to assimilate his fellow worshippers, if he is their leader and this their ideology? And how worried should we be that Hilali is being challenged for the leadership of his Lakemba mosque by two preachers even more extreme than he?

But Hilali's record of denying to us what he's just said in Arabic now raises a further question about the Bracks Government, which passed a notorious vilification law under which we can be jailed for saying something hurtful about someone's race or religion.

Right now, two pastors are defending themselves in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal against just such a complaint from the Islamic Council of Victoria -- the council which voted to make Hilali the Mufti.

The allegation is that the preachers, Pastor Danny Nalliah and Pastor Daniel Scot of the Catch the Fire ministry, mocked and vilified Islam during a church seminar on jihad.

I again mention this trial -- which has run for months -- because one of the many complaints is that the pastors warned that Islam not only preached jihad, but permitted believers to lie about what they were doing.

In fact, the sacred sayings of the Prophet can be interpreted as condoning just that. The Sahih Muslim collection of sayings, for instance, says the ban on lying can be relaxed when a believer is "in battle".

IN another collection, Mohammed famously tells a follower who offers to kill a Jewish enemy that he may say "a false thing" to get the job done.

Some Muslims, I'm sure, would not interpret their holy texts in this way.

But others have and do.

Yet to discuss this -- and suggest this may be why a mufti might not tell us the truth about his teachings -- puts us at risk of a trial for vilification, thanks to the Bracks Government.

What a lethal swamp we've been led into by our multicultural zealots. We have now Islamic clerics preaching hate and death, while some of their followers struggle to assimilate.

And in Victoria we have laws which threaten jail for even pastors who sound a warning. Is this just or sane?

In a dig at the perceived influence of Saudi Wahhabi money, Sheikh added that "Darul-Fatwa Islamic High Council of Australia [as the new group is known] is not a tool serving the interests of any foreign government nor does it accept or receive funds from any overseas sources." His final words offer encouragement for all those who hope to see the Muslim community taking a strong stance against the Islamist cancer: "Darul-Fatwa totally refuses all kinds of extremism as it refuses its elements from any group or individual and declares all acts of extremism unrelated to Islam, as Islam is not related to them in spite of those who claim otherwise."

The emergence of Middle Eastern crime groups was first observed in NSW in the mid 1990s. Before then, they had been known largely for individual acts of antisocial behaviour and for loose family structures involved in heroin importation and supply as well as motor vehicle theft and conversion.

The one crime that did appear organised before this period was insurance fraud, usually motor vehicle accidents and arson. Because these crimes were largely victimless, they were dealt with by insurance companies and police involvement was limited.

But from these insurance scams, a generation of young criminals emerged to engage in more sophisticated crimes – among them extortion, armed robbery, organised narcotics importation and supply, gun running, organised factory and warehouse break-ins, and car theft and conversion on a vast scale, including the exporting of stolen luxury vehicles to Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries.

It probably took 20 years for the Chinese to become a dominant force in crime in Sydney. But Middle Eastern crime has taken less than 10 years. So pervasive is Middle Eastern influence on organised crime in Sydney that rival ethnic groups, with the exception of the Asian gangs, have been squeezed out or rendered extinct. The only other crime group to have survived intact are the bikies – although they have now legitimised many of their operations and now make as much money through legal means as they do illegally.

With no organised-crime experience, no gang unit other than the South-East Asian Strike Force, the NSW Police turned against every convention known to Western policing in dealing with organised crime groups. In effect, the Lebanese crime gangs were handed the keys to the city of Sydney.

The most influential of the Middle Eastern crime groups are the Muslim males of Telopea Street, Bankstown, in southwest Sydney. The Telopea Street Boys and their associates have been involved in numerous murders over the past five years – many of them unprovoked attacks on young Australian men for no other reason than the ethnicity of the victims.

They have been involved in all manner of crime on a scale we have never before seen or even contemplated. Ram raids on expensive brand stores in the city are endemic. The theft of expensive motor vehicles known as car-jacking is increasing at an alarming rate. This crime involves gangs of Lebanese or Pacific Islander males finding a luxury motor vehicle parked outside a restaurant or hotel and watching until the occupants return to drive home. The car is followed, the victims assaulted at gunpoint and the vehicle stolen. The vehicles are always worth about $100,000 or more, and it is believed they are taken to warehouses before being shipped interstate or overseas to the Middle East.

The extent to which Middle Eastern crime gangs have moved into the drug market is breathtaking. They are now the main suppliers of cocaine in Sydney and are developing markets in southeastern Queensland and Victoria. They are leading suppliers of heroin in and around the inner city, southwest Sydney and western Sydney.

But what sets the Middle Eastern gangs apart from all other gangs is their propensity to use violence at any time and for any reason. Unlike their Vietnamese counterparts, Middle Eastern crime gangs roam the city and are not confined to Cabramatta or Chinatown. And even more alarming is that the violence is directed mainly against young Australian men and women. It is plain that violent attacks on our young men and women are racial as well as criminal.

Quite often when taking statements from young men attacked by groups of Lebanese males around Darling Harbour, a common theme that emerges is that the violence is racially motivated: the victims are attacked simply because they are Australian.

I wonder whether the inventors of the racial hatred laws introduced during the golden years of multiculturalism ever contemplated the possibility that we, the silent majority, would be the target of racial violence and hatred. I don't remember any race-based charges being laid in conjunction with the gang rapes of southwestern Sydney in 2001, where race was clearly an issue and racial slurs were used to humiliate the victims.

Unbelievably, a publicly funded document produced by the Anti-Discrimination Board, titled The Race for Headlines, was then circulated. It sought to not only cover up race as a motive for the rapes but to criticise any accurate reporting on this matter in the media as racially biased. It worries many operational police that organisations such as the ADB, the Privacy Commission and the Council for Civil Liberties have become unaccountable and push agendas that don't represent the values that this great country was built on.

Many have heard of the horrific problems in France with an unprecedented outbreak of crimes among an estimated 5 million Muslim immigrants. Middle Eastern males now make up 45,000 of the 90,000 inmates in French prisons. There are no-go areas in Paris for police and citizens alike. The rule of law has broken down so badly that when police went to one of these areas recently to round up three Islamic terrorists, they went in armoured vehicles, with heavy weaponry and more than 1,000 armed officers – just to arrest a few suspects.

Why did they need such numbers? Because the threat of terrorist reprisal was minimal compared to the anticipated revolt by thousands of Middle Eastern and North African residents, who have no respect for the rule of law in France and consider intrusions by police and other authorities a declaration of war.

The problems in Paris's Muslim communities are being replicated in Sydney at an alarming rate. Paris has seen an explosion of rapes committed by Middle Eastern males against French women in the past 15 years. The rapes are almost identical to those in Sydney. The rapes are committed not only for sexual gratification: there are also deep racial undertones, along with threats of violence and retribution.

What is more alarming is the identical reaction among some sections of the media and criminologists in France: they downplay the race factor and even gang up on those who try to draw attention to the widening gulf between Middle Eastern youths and the rest of French society.

That is what we are seeing in Australia. The usual suspects come out of their institutions and libraries to downplay and even cover up the growing problem of Middle Eastern crime. Why? Because these same social engineers have attempted to redefine our society. They have experimented with all manner of institutions – from prisons to mental institutions and, recently, policing.

Some of the problems we now see with policing are the result of former NSW police commissioner Peter Ryan's dream of restructuring and retraining the force. The police academy was changed from a training college into a university teaching social sciences and very little else. Constantly, I'd see young police officers emerge from the academy with a view that as police officers they were counsellors, psychologists, marriage guidance experts, social workers and advocates for social change, but with almost no skills in street policing. Their training endangered not only them but also their workmates and the community.

Never mind that policing is about enforcing the rule of law. It's never been about analysing each offender for the root causes of crime. The police enforce the law and protect the community regardless of race, colour or religion. What we have seen in southwest Sydney is ethnic communities being policed selectively. The implications for this are frightening when you look at Paris. The French practised selective policing of a particular community, which is subsequently now out of control.

In February 2001, when I appeared before an inquiry into Cabramatta's crime problem, I gave evidence which at the time attracted the usual claque of ratbags from the ABC and their associates at The Sydney Morning Herald, as well as Sydney's Radio 2UE broadcaster Mike Carlton. I said that Sydney is going to be torn apart by gang warfare the likes of which we have never seen. Last year I was finally proved right, but I take no comfort from that. However, the criticism I received was unprecedented. I was a nutter, a liar, a racist, a disgruntled detective.

Of course, the critics still refuse to concede that we have a problem. They are still clinging to the multicultural theme. To highlight the problems with Middle Eastern communities in Sydney is to tear down the multicultural facade.

The amount of money spent on the multicultural industry beggars belief. It is a lucrative position for many. Governments pour huge money into anything that includes the word multicultural. Indeed, the police department, like other government departments, spends vast amounts on multicultural issues, jobs, education packages, legal advice, public relations and the rest. Having expended large amounts of money on multiculturalism, they are hardly likely to criticise it. Those that feed off multiculturalism are almost certainly not likely to question it.

That groups of Middle Eastern males can roam a city and assault, rob and intimidate at will can no longer be denied or excused. You need only to look at Paris and other European countries that have had mass immigration from Middle Eastern countries to see the sort of problems we can look forward to in years to come. My prediction is that within 10 years Middle Eastern crime groups will have spread and their influence will extend across Australia as they seek to expand their enterprises. There will be no-go areas in southwest Sydney just like there are in Paris.

Only recently I have seen quotes from senior police and retired police who claim that race is not the issue in organised crime. Those statements are stupid and dangerous. Organised crime groups, with the exception of the bikies, are almost always ethnically based – any experienced detective will tell you that. Barring one or two local beach gangs, the days of Anglo-Saxon gangs are all but over.

I also predict that there will be a dramatic rise in gang shootings as rival gangs compete for turf and business. This will be done with almost complete disregard for police attention, as they are aware that the NSW Police Service has to be rebuilt from the ground floor. In the past three years we have seen the phenomenon of drive-by shootings, Los Angeles style. Not only are the increasing incidents a serious cause of concern, but even more so is the use of automatic weapons that spray hundreds of rounds at their targets. This is virtually unprecedented in Australia.

Indeed, the issue has become so serious that some of these Middle Eastern youth who are engaged in organised crime, and who have no regard for our values and way of life, may go a step further and engage in terrorist acts against Australia. The ingredients are there already. It is but a small step from urban terrorism to religious and political terrorism, as we have seen with groups such as the Irish Republican Army, with organised crime often being confused with terrorism.

I don't want to paint a story of doom and gloom. But, as a former policeman, I've seen the destruction that gangs can wreak on innocent citizens who want nothing more than to live in peace. I just hope we can trust the people in government and the police to ensure that we don't lose the values and the rights we have received from past generations.

In 1988 the Hawke government proposed at a referendum a limited Bill of Rights, but this was rejected by the voters. In 1992 and 1994, however, the High Court of Australia, in a series of cases including the Australian Capital Television case and the Theophanous case, found that the Constitution contained an "implied right" to free speech on political issues, as a necessary part of the democratic system created by the Constitution.

A few months ago I was at the zoo with my children. I was sitting at a table, with my 4 daughters, in an outside eating area while my husband and son were getting us cokes. A muslim family came in, husband with the long straggly beard, wife in full chador, face covered, everything, and 2 little boys. As I sat there next to them I thought about all that man was probably doing to that woman and what he was teaching those 2 little boys. I grabbed my daughters up, went and got my husband and son and we left the area.

Immigration lawyers supporting illegal aliens are pushing Governor Baldacci to sign an executive order that will stop state agencies from questioning a person's immigration status.

Even more unsettling is the title of the order: AN ORDER REGARDING INQUIRIES INTO IMMIGRATION STATUS. It reads, "I, John E. Baldacci, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby order that no State agencies question any person about his or her immigration status and engage in any activities for the purpose of ascertaining the immigration status of any person."

Fleeing persecution, refugees grapple with new home

Population: Among Somalia's 7.5 million people are about 600,000 Bantus, most of them rural farmers who grow wheat, potatoes, beans and other crops.

History: Descendants of slaves from northern Mozambique and Tanzania, Bantus have been free since slavery was abolished in the early 1900s, but remain oppressed and widely discriminated against.

Education: Because Somalia provides few schools in Bantu regions, many Bantus are illiterate, their children working on family farms instead of attending school.

Language: While Somalia has two languages — Af Maay and Af Maxaa — many Bantus prefer their ancestral tribal language from Tanzania, called Zigua.

Resettlement: Civil war has forced thousands of Bantus into refugee camps. In 1999, the U.S. agreed to resettle them, but the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and a chickenpox outbreak in the refugee camps delayed their resettlement until last spring. The U.S. plans to resettle 13,000 to 15,000 Bantus by the end of this year.

Hospital 'johnny' redesigned because of Somalis' complaints

PORTLAND, Maine -- Everyone who has been hospitalized or has undergone an outpatient procedure knows -- and probably loathes -- the skimpy, ill-fitting, one-size-fits-none hospital gown.

Maine Medical Center finally decided to do something about it upon discovering that Muslim women accustomed to being fully covered were skipping appointments to avoid the immodest garments.

The redesigned hospital gown made available to all Maine Medical patients six weeks ago leaves them fully covered.

"This is a great example of a challenge raised by a specific community that can ultimately benefit all patients," said Dana Farris Gaya, manager of interpreter and cross-cultural services.

The "johnny," as it's known across New England, is the butt of jokes because of the discomfort it causes patients. Typically, it's a short gown tied in the back, often leaving one's backside exposed.

Of course, the johnny was not designed with patient comfort in mind. And the institutional garment has endured in large part, despite patient complaints and various efforts to improve upon the design.

At Maine Medical Center, administrators decided they had to act last November after the hospital identified a high no-show rate for Muslim women from African countries, particularly Somalia.

As many as three out of 10 women were skipping their appointments, said Osman Hersi, a medical interpreter at the hospital.

Tracked down at home, the women whose religion and culture requires them to be covered described to interpreters the horror of being asked to wear the revealing gowns during outpatient procedures.

Furthermore, they were publicly humiliated when they had to wait in a hallway in the radiology department.

"I have witnessed their misery and how bad they feel about it. They don't like it. They feel ashamed. It's very embarrassing," said Asha Abdulleh, a medical interpreter and native of Kenya.

The dress code for Muslim women is derived from the holy book, the Quran. Followers say teachings on modesty require women to cover themselves from head to toe. Only the hands and the face may be exposed. Many believe that their beauty should be reserved only for husbands.

On a recent morning, Shamso Abdi appeared for her first hospital visit since arriving in Portland.

She and her husband, Aden Ali, came to the United States from Mogadishu, Somalia. They lived in a small town in Kentucky, and then Columbus, Ohio, before coming to Portland.

Abdi, who was clothed in a dress, a sarong and a hijab, a scarf wrapped around her head, said she had canceled appointments in Columbus when she had to see male doctors and wear a johnny.

The "new" johnny created by the Maine Medical Center is long enough to provide more coverage of a patient's legs and has extra material to ensure that a patient's backside remains covered. Underneath, there's a wraparound sarong for even more coverage.

Abdi said she was grateful to see that Maine Medical had created a patient gown with her principles in mind.

"I'm so happy they made the change. I'm so happy that they considered us," she said, speaking through an interpreter.

Maine Medical, which has put the new johnnies on all garment carts for patients who request them, isn't the only hospital to try to create a patient gown that is more acceptable to patients.

Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey introduced vibrant colors and funky patterns five years ago.

Other hospitals and garment producers have tweaked the traditional designs with snaps, velcro and other changes.

But the traditional johnny will never go away entirely. In some situations, in emergency rooms for example, it's more important to put the interests of doctors and nurses ahead of the interests of patients.

But for many situations, it makes sense to keep patients happy.

And physicians, nurses and other health care providers from the international clinic were at a loss to explain at their weekly meeting why it took so long to produce a patient-friendly johnny.

"Why didn't we think of this so long ago?" said Dr. Nat James, an internal medicine physician at the international clinic.
