Vic Eliason presents two audio cuts. One features Robert Schuller being interviewed by Dr. David DiCanio after giving a keynote address at the 2004 National Association of Evangelicals meeting. The other cut features Robert Schuller interviewing Billy Graham. The two discuss their views concerning how people are saved.

Dr. DiCanio interacts with callers to discuss the opinions expressed by Schuller and Graham and the current move of some leaders in Christianity to preach a gospel that teaches salvation apart from a conscious, biblical awareness of Christ as the only way to God.

A1: Judaism... Earned.

Ask a Jew how they EARNED a part in the world to come. They will laugh and tell you that no one can EARN a part. I am not arguing with your belief in this, only that it is a common MYTH about Judaism. Judaism, is a religion that depends as much upon the grace of G-d as Christianity does.

I just read the link, thanks.

"She's learning the language" (of fundamentalism) from a pastor in the Assembly of God church. I wonder who will be the interpreter.

Both you and I both will never measure up to his contributions to the Kingdom of G-d

I am not counting for myself, but man's estimation counts for nothing... and the first shall be last, and the greatest least. Here is how one can be GREAT in the Kingdom of Heaven, from the Master's own mouth:

Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matt 5:19

So in your estimation, do you think Billy Graham was teaching Bill and Hillary to keep the commandments? Or was he teaching them that no matter what one does, it is OK? After all, in such a mindset, G-d is not a meanie is He? Billy certainly has a problem with the "teaches them" part.

Sweet Caroline, who do you think God wants to condemn to hell? God loves us all, he is a loving God. He is also a just God and a merciful God.

It is Gods desire that we should all be saved. So why doesn't he just save us all. He sent his only son to die for us, to shed his blood and redeem us from our sin. In his justice, he requires that we do one thing...accept Jesus and his sacrifice.

If God saves all except the sinful and wicked....then it would be by our good works that we are saved. The Bible clearly states that it is not by works, but by grace.

I hate to say this...but God does not save us all...if he did we would all be. We would all be saved automatically (like you so wish the aborted babies to be.)

I don't know the answer, I'm just giving you a different perspective on this. I honestly hope your right, but I fear your not.

Scripture doesn't say there are exceptions for that poor native in Africa who has never heard the Gospel. If he hasn't heard the Gospel, he is going to hell because he doesn't believe in the truth. It doesn't matter that he hasn't heard it. Persisting in a rejection of Christ will result in damnation. And, even if you haven't heard the Gospel, Romans 1 makes abundantly clear you still are guilty before God because nature itself cries out the truth of God, including the trinity...

So much for the idea that God is just.

This does not sound right. I have a copy of one of Billy Graham's books published in 1978. And the plan of salvation is clearly presented. I also know folks who have worked with the Billy Graham crusades for over 30 years translating who are on our missions committee and work at the same ministry I do.

Also, Christ will not come again until He is preached to all the nations.

Most Christians want Christ to come again!

Because Christ told the Christians to go and spread the word.

Also, Christ will not come again until every nation has heard of Christ.

The missionaries are working on getting to every people group, and I believe they are anticipating this happening in our lifetime.

We've had missionaries speak at our church about bringing the Gospel to the different people groups of the world, and I wish I had copies of some of their slides. It was very interesting.

There are a lot of people's groups who have not heard, especially in the Muslim world, China, and India. It's not nations as we see them on a map, but the different people's groups.

Different missionary groups are working together to preach to all of these unreached groups. It is millions and millions of people still.

Actually, this has been a matter of more private debate for a good many of years. This is not the first time Billy Graham has said this. Many have often close our ears to the things we aren't comfortable with and give Billy a 'pass' because after all, "He has done so much". This very debate has been going on for over 30 years. One would have thought that someone on Billy Grahams's staff would have had the tumerity to impress upon him that this type of thing would only cement the doubt that many in the evangelical community have had about him personally for years.

I honestly hope your right I know in my heart I am right because GOD put it in my heart! He took my unborn sister & brother & my own baby girl back to his arms, but not without reassuring me I would be with them in Heaven someday!

You can believe it or not, I choose to believe him.

"BELIEVE AND RECIEVE", is that not what he said!

Defending Billy Graham, whose 50 year ministry frankly speaks for itself and needs no defending, against the sniping of pipsqueak wannabee theologians is obviously an exercise in futility. I said it earlier, more diplomatically, but let me say it more emphatically: None of you naysayers measure up to his ministry and accomplishments, and no twisting of his words can depreciate from his contributions to the world, especially to the lost.

We have no direct scriptural citation to back up our traditional view of an "age of accountability" before which one could die and go to Heaven though having not of their willful action put their faith in Christ.

However, we have a very strong case that this traditional view is true based on elements of God's character that we find in scripture as pertaining to treatment of the poor, the widows and orphans. We are given a view to the merciful and compassionate heart of God; this God who so loved that He gave His only Son. We see Jesus' treatment of children and his comments about them in Matthew 18, Mark 10 and Luke 18.
http://bible.gospelcom.net/passage/?search=matthew%2018:2-6;%20Mark%2010:12-17;%20Luke%2018:13-20;&version=9;

We read Jesus' teaching "as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" in Matthew 25.

We read Isaiah 40:11 and the picture speaks volumes of a tender and merciful shepherd.

In all of these and elsewhere we gather a deep sense of God's mercy, and we couple that mercy with His justice and we believe that He, therefore, gathers to Himself any that die in a condition such that they have had no chance to choose faith, whether by reason of age or incapacity. We consider that this is consistent with justice and mercy taken together with the scriptural portrayals of His tenderness.

We cannot by any specific passage state that this is biblically the case, but I think we can confidently assert from what spcripture reveals and the Holy Spirit testifies concerning the matter that our traditional view is the right view.
